I received my FedEx package yesterday and was thrilled to see that Flex Plans will be available next year, and the Fish Tank tickets only increased from $4 to $6. The catch is that they can only be used on Mondays through Thursdays. Still, it's a great deal! HAPPY DAY! :brigginbounce

They were talking about Baltimore's desired move to the NL on "Cold Pizza" yesterday morning. The concensus is that this is Oriole management floating a trial balloon that will never take air. And Selig has already tried to quell the buzz. Anyone could understand why Baltimore would want to get out of AL East, but that would mean some team would have to switch there. Ain't gonna happen. The more logical choice would be the re-tooled Expos (the Senators were always in the AL), but still any moves are highly unlikely. Besides, the Orioles should be careful what they ask for. The Brewers wanted to leave the AL Centeral to get away from the "big spending" Indians and White Sox. Now look what's happened: The low-budget Twins dominate the division. And the Brewers have to contend with the really big-spending Cubs, Cardinals, and Astros.

A January FBI memo says suicide terrorists are plotting to hijack trans-Atlantic planes by smuggling "ready-to-build" bomb kits past airport security, and later assembling the explosives in aircraft bathrooms. The group of six men sat near one another, pretended to be strangers, but after careful observation from flight attendants, it was apparent "all six knew each other," the report said. "They were very careful when we were in their area to seem separate and pretended to be sleeping, but when we were out of the twilight area, they were watching and communicating," the report said. The men made several trips to the bathroom and congregated in that area, and were told at least twice by a flight attendant to return to their seats. The suspicious behavior was relayed to airline officials in midflight and additional background checks were conducted. A second pilot said that, on one of his recent flights, an air marshal forced his way into the lavatory at the front of his plane after a man of Middle Eastern descent locked himself in for a long period. The marshal found the mirror had been removed and the man was attempting to break through the wall. The cockpit was on the other side. "It's a probe. They are probing us," said a second air marshal, who confirmed that Middle Eastern men try to flush out marshals by rushing the cockpit and stopping suddenly. This is scary stuff! :o

I suppose the other option is to go by a gift shop to pick up a bag once inside the stadium. After having to take my slightly-oversized bag back to the car at one of last year's playoff game, I just went in and purchased a $2 scorecard and asked for a plastic bag to put it in. I laughed at that the whole game: How they took away my bag at the gate and then gave me one when I got inside. :lol

I guess I shouldn't confess, but I would keep a folded canvas bag in the very bottom of my tiny purse. Once in the park, I'd take out the bag and put the junk I'd been carrying in my hands (purse, water bottle, scorecard, etc.). I always thought it was a stupid rule anyways.

I was surprised that they didn't kick him out. A few years ago, my family was sitting in the 2nd row of section 126 and a similar thing happened; someone reached over and knocked down a homerun. Well, all the security people knew was that it was a person in a blue shirt. My husband was wearing a blue shirt and they tried to throw him out. I didn't want him to be kicked out, but I also didn't want to squeal on the guy who had done it, so all I said was "He's not the one you want." I guess they went and looked at the replay and found the real culprit and made him leave. They later came to apologize for trying to throw my husband out, but I just laughed and said: "That's okay. He'd often mistaken for a criminal."

Where is the consistency? Now you love Alex? Didn't you have him on your so called Suck Squad? Is it simply a case of what have you done for me lately? When A-gon hit the walk-off homer in Game 4 last year, my husband jumped up, cheering and yelling: "Way to go, Gonzalez; I'll never say a bad word about you again." Since then, every time my husband tries to start on A-gon I remind him of that promise and he shuts up pretty quickly.

The longer they wait to build a roof the more it will cost and the greater the likelihood construction will interrupt use of the stadium. It's also easier to go to a lender once with a total deal then to go twice. Good points.

I'm with jrgti33. Payroll is now at 51-52 mill. But 15 mill of that is for players not on the roster (Pudge = 7 mill; Hampton = 8 mill), isn't that right? That puts active roster payroll at 36 mill?!?! Pretty stingy for world champs. "active player roster at 36 mill" ... Stated that way, the figure is appalling. There are certain realities about fielding a serious contender. I don't think we're there yet.

Signing Vlad even for some of the larger figures that are bouncing around is a good economic move for a simple reason: Thanks to back-to-back wins by relatively low-budget teams, the FA market is deflated more this year than it has been in several years, and probably more than it will be for some time to come. Even if we sign Vlad now for more than we can afford, a future trade (when his 15/year will look cheap) will net considerable profit. As always, buy low, sell high.

You people are kidding yourselves if you think atheletes don't play for the money. Granted. But anyone who "plays for the money" should be a little more knowledgeable about economic reality. This is no market to be demanding what Pudge is demanding. The way Pudge has handled this makes him look, monetarily speaking, very stupid. If it were about the money he would be more serious in negotiation. Odds are, he will end up signing with another team for an amount the Marlins would have offered anyway. Those are the realities of a market economy. Pure and simple. If it were about the money, the Marlins would be in better stead. Apparently, though, it's NOT about the money for Pudge. It's about EGO. :thumbdown
