March 13, 200422 yr I happened to be stuck on 836 today as well. Hank came on and I heard his comments. First he stated that the city's new version at the orange bowl has a roof on it.( Not new news). second he said that "the Marlins still don't have the money" . He thought nothing would happen by the dead line. The Marlins are barking at the Orange bowl proposal. He said that Sopher was not involved in any deal with the team. He said sopher got a good deal "about $100 per sq ft." Then he said that land around there goes for "$200 per sq ft". ( this came out of the blue and was the one thing he said i actually found interesting.) He then went onto say that there is "no other site being considered." (The pricing of land and not considering a site contradict each other) He stated that the marlins would use the dinging of the orange bowl site as the reason for things falling apart even though it will be because "the marlins don't have the money" It seems to me that someone was looking to send a message by giving Hank this none story. I have always thought hank was very negative about all non dolphin local pro franchises. He has always kissd the dolphins *. Just from what i recall.... Incidently, when he first made the statements I thought it was mostly his opinon rather then actual scoop. i was very surprised it then was repeated in the updates as scoop.
March 13, 200422 yr Goldberg sucks and knows as little as any professional sports commentator can possibly know about baseball.
March 13, 200422 yr pleazzzzzz god, all i want is the stadium. is that too much to ask?!?!??!?!?!?! pleaaaazzzzz any stadium. ANYTHING!!!!!!
March 13, 200422 yr From what I can find out Hank got this from Arriola who is trying to force the Marlins to take the city's deal on their terms at the OB site or they are threatening to blow the whole deal up. Burgess is not in agreement with the city's position but is not offering an alternative either.
March 13, 200422 yr tough position for the front office... do they take anything they can get at this point? how will Wayne factor into this? would he make last minute concessions & agree to rework the Marlins lease? (doubtful)
