rumors going around the majors are that Urbina will be a Marlin come May 1st

 

they say that is the reason why Urbina keeps turning down teams and is talking about Japan

I'd love to see it, but will he lower his demands that's what it's going to come down to I think. They were talking to Beinfest on ESPN and it didn't really sound like he was ruling it out.

I hope so, but on two conditions.

 

1) No making out with the catcher

2) At our price

I would think he would set up for a while just like last year, but that wouldn't last long. I'm not convinced Benitez is the answer at closer.

i think beinfest will pick him up to set up like last season, but if armando has some offtime, JAck will do like last season.

I'm not basing this on spring training, I'm basing this on his last couple of years, especially with the year he had last year when no one seemed to want him.

I'm not saying he had a bad year last year, I'm just saying that I'm not sure if he has the mentallity of closer any more. He's still a hell of a pitcher.

the question is when does urbina start getting in shape? even if he comes back in May he may not be ready until June.

Last I read Uggie said 4Mil or he retires. Me thinks he overestimates his value a bit much. I'll keep my fingers this is a ploy by the Fish to keep him

But he just dominated in Gm1 of the NLCS and in the World Series . . . I really want him back!

Well Beinfest was asked today...He said they couldn't talk until May 1st so I'm sure it was on his mind...

Benitez will be fine geez ... yeah he'll blow a couple but its what you get when you go for Benitez, either way they guy will save 30 + this year

I don't think we'll get Urbina, only because of his $4.5 mil. demands. He didn't lower it for the other teams that wanted to sign him, why would he do it for us? And if some of you think he's just wading out til May 1st so he can sign with us, why didn't he sign with us BEFORE the deadline?? Somebody'll get him, someone desperate before Opening Day.

2. Why would he lower his demands to come back to us, when his two best friends on the team (Pudge and Ozzie) aren't here anymore?

3. Didn't he say that he was "insulted" when we didn't even ask him if he was interested in coming back?

 

I'd like him back as a set-up/closer insurance, but Benitez is our closer until he blows it as far as I'm concerned...
