SeaBass
I am new to the board, long time reader, just starting to post though. This site is great. Anyways, I read that Juan Pierre dislocated his finger at MLB.com :o Does anyone know how long he will be out ? MLB - JP

Admin
He'll miss about a week of spring training probably they said on FSN. Left pinky.
TSwift25
the fact that it's on his throwing hand makes the recovery time faster. A break on the glove hand takes forever to heal, but on the throwing hand, it's a week, usually.

PBMarlin
It didn't look pretty when it happened in the 1st inning. JP was in quite a bit of pain. I'm relieved to hear it wasn't more serious. A broken finger could have been 4-6 weeks. JP always carries his gloves in his hand to help keep them shut. So not sure exactly how it happened. He was sliding towards the outside of the bag and it looked like Velazquez was blocking it with his leg.

83Gator
That article says he's going to a hand specialist on Monday and if there is ligament damage, he could be out six weeks. This could be bad. We don't have a backup CF and Cordero doesn't help us like he can at 1B, 3B, LF, and RF (with some juggling). An injury to Pierre would mean Nunez, Gerald Williams, or Rios would be the regular CF for the first month of the season. April is tough enough with all the road games; I'd hate to go through it without Pierre. I'll feel better when Pierre gets back from the hand specialist. Izzie
Damn, just what we need. Well I wish his left pinky a speedy recovery.
FreshFish
What a scary moment. Thanks for sharing the latest info 83Gator. I hope JP gets back soon, and there insn't anything serious about this.
RossInfoMan
I think this shows that Nunez will make the team. Regardless if JP is back by opening day, you need to have someone who can at least play center beside him. Last year, we had Envcarnacion who could play center. Nunez has been better than Williams or Rios, who also play center, so I think Nunez will make the team.
Skully
These reports are a bit confusing though. When they found out it was just a dislocation during today's broadcast; Len, Tommy, and Craig seemed relieved it was just that. I don't know how well Len and Craig can determine how serious an injury is, but if Tommy Hutton isn't too worried, then neither am I. fanofthefish
We'll just have to hold our breath until tomorrow's visit with the specialist. He looked like he was in some pain and wasted little time getting off the field to get to the clubhouse.
bman8316
Yeah he looked like he was in alot of pain and when the trainer grabbed his hand, it looked like his hand was shaking. I just hope he dosent try and push it too much the rest of spring, so that he could be ready to go for opening day.

Omg, but i was so worried when it happened, i could not even imagine the marlins playing without JP. He is waaaay toooooo valuable for us. But he's gonna be ok, only a few weeks don't worry!!!!
