Guest FishFanInPA
While watching the Fish close out the game, I saw Braden blow a lead and Six Fingers load up the bases but wriggle out of the jam. Which of these closers were the toughest to watch? I see this being a three person race....Did i forget anyone?
Guest Juanky
Braden. BY FAR
PBMarlin
You could never feel comfortable with Alfonseca on the mound. Glad to see he is a Brave now....should be worth a couple of late inning wins for us.
Maxx
Alfonseca, no doubt. Although Nunez is right behind him in that category.

TSwift25
Nunez 'cuz when he struggled it was a pianful string of doubles. When Looper/Nen/Benitez struggle, it's usually the HR's that kill us, puts us out of our misery faster...
83Gator
I see this being a three person race....Did i forget anyone? You forgot Mantei. I'd have to go with Nunez. The rest of them, while scary at times, got the job done. Nunez failed, though it wouldn't have been so bad if Torborg didn't think the cure was to keep running him out there over and over. 83Gator
And theres Trevor Hoffman ya forgot.. Hoffman was never our closer. He was Harvey's setup guy. He got a couple of saves in 1993 before being traded for Sheffield, but Harvey was the man and turned in the most amazing season of closing I'd ever seen up until Smoltz/Gagne the last couple of years. Mephisto
Vladimir Nunez, he would always allow the time run to get on.
Guest FishFanInPA
You forgot Mantei. I did forget Mantei but I figured he wouldnt get any votes because he was relatively painless...One of my favorite all-time Marlins closers because he was money and so were the Ice Girls. g8trz2003
I voted AA. Man it was nerve-wracking. I enjoyed Nunez pitching (until he just collapsed last season).

FishFanPR
hey, fishfaninpa...are you going to any of the Marlins-Phillies games? I'm going on the 20th, just checking if there'll be fellow Marlins fans.

I urge all of you to make the trip up to the City of Brotherly Love so we can swamp that place with Teal.
catchoftheday
def "el Pulpo" ... geez, that guy left at least 2 men on everytime he had a save... and thats after allowing a run or two.
catchoftheday
but i thought that Vladimir Nu?ez was pretty good that one year he saved 20+ ... it was the next year when he became cr*p
Beastie
Alfonseca officially made me almost die a couple times. I can not think of one inning when there was not men on second and third with one out. :banghead WHY WHY WHY

jonnylons
Braden Looper was like an actor that was unbelievably cast. Like Woody Allen as an action hero. He didnt look right closing, and he didnt look confident out there. Speaking of, Benitez has gotten progressively better. Giving up that home run to Vidro I thought was a lack of focus, but he went 3 up, 3 down against the Phillies. Shut them down - in the clutch. Good sign. Also, our bullpen has been pretty solid thus far, that is encouraging. We have gotten good pitching this whole season so far. Very encouraging.
