Just my thoughts on the game....

Featured Replies

Oliver pitched well enough to win...... yes, he left a couple of hangers up but that was it

the Braves defense and defensive positioning was great down the stretch.... whoever had Eli Marrero guarding the line vs Mike Redmond gets 2 big thumbs up from me.... much props

oh, much props and dap to Jesse Garcia and Mark DeRosa..... man did they put on a show with the glove from the 4th inning on

Conine is in a huge slump right now, need to drop him 1 spot in the lineup, but i have faith in him

not sure if I am missing anything else, but you cant win them all, and if we are going to lose, I would like to lose like this.... getting flat out beat

yes the score was 5-3 but they giftwrapped 2 or 3 of those runs for us

anyway we'll get em back tomorrow

fair assesments from The Ramp.

something i would like to add is there is no "shame" in giving up a HR to Chipper, the dood is a MVP.

And it was a good pitch from Oliver, down and in....definitely not a hangar. Chipper just did what Chipper can do, handle a good pitch and take it out of the yard.

The first 4 innings were good.

But then we got shutdown the rest of the game and then we allowed Two, two-run homers.

Ugh.

Yeah but Eli Marrero?

ok fine.

so whenever Luis, Conine, Alex, Redmond, or Castro go yard you should expect the same from other fans right?

Marrero aint exactly the 8 hole hitter.... he aint great but he is a serviceable major leaguer

Marrero had one good year and while he does have pop, no one expects him to get homers. He not in for that. He's probably gonna end the year with 2 Homers. Oh well, if they're in the batters box, they're capable of anything.

the marlins need to start hitting. everything else is good they need to start hitting because choi and cabs aren't going to hit a hr every games. i wanna see lowell doubles, pierre singles, choi base hits, niner must improve and gonzo had a couple good ab's except in the 8th. THEY NEED TO START HITTING DESPERATELY.

Marlinfan, I love your sig. What I love even more is how Tim Kirkjian and Rob Dibble kiss Jack McKeons and the Marlins ass. And why was Preston booed?

I didn't see the game, but i'll give you my thoughts.....

This team can't win them all, they lost a close one with their worst pitcher on the mound, and they will be fine tomorrow.

Panicking at this point would be beyond stupid.

That is all.

Oliver is a below average pitcher in this league and he's going to have outings like this regularly so we're going to have to score runs.

Conine is trying to hard, it reminds me of last year when he just got traded I think he'll be back to his old self in a week or two.

Ramp, you forgot to give props to Bump. He pitched lights out tonight, very impressive.

no, i didnt

I agree with Ramp comments except:

Nunez should get his shot to see what he can do.

the fact is, youre not going to get 5 Becketts in your rotation

teams need a guy that can eat up 200ish innings and give you somewhere in the neighborhood of a .500 record

all you want from those guys is a chance to win the games he pitches. youre not expecting him to get the win on his own, like you sometimes expect from your #1 or #2 starter.

Oliver gave us a chance to win tonight, you cant ask anymore from him

he gave up 3 runs with 2 outs in the 6th. he pitched very well for his role

Agreed.....

But that will not be the case when the rotation is Beckett, Burnett, Penny, Willis, and Pavano later this season.

I know hindsight is 20/20

but I think once Giles hit that solid double off of Oliver that Jack shouldve had Bump jump into warming up then have rosenthal go out and talk to Oliver (to give Bump warm up time) then have Oliver pitch around Chipper, not intentionally walk him, but not give him anything to hit (once again to waste time plus you may even get him to swing at some bad stuff and possibly get him out)

if he is disciplined and takes the pass to make the siutation a force play with runners on first and second. Once Andruw Jones comes up, put Bump in to set up a righty-righty matchup rather than the Lefty-righty matchup

Oliver gave you 5 2/3 of quality pitching. The heart of the order was coming up and if there was any sign that Oliver was going to get hit up, he shouldve been yanked

we are not dealing with one of your better pitchers here.

I really think McKeon hung Oliver out to dry

but to Jacks defense, oliver was pitching well and there were two outs

but again, its our 5th starter going into the heart of the order and he just got hit pretty hard by Giles and the situation shouldve been changed to a righty-righty battle in a force out situation

Yeah so the Marlins need to save those big runs game like a couple days ago, for when Oliver pitches.

I know hindsight is 20/20

Chipper Jones is a switch hitter...
