April 19, 200422 yr There is way too much negativity going on after that Braves sweep....i for one see many, many more good things than bad about our first 12 games. 1) Luis Castillo, Carl Pavano, Brad Penny, and Chad Fox have all picked up right where they left off last season. 2) no team (not even those darned Braves) has been able to score more than 5 runs against us. some teams haven't even been able to score 1. 3) we have won 8 of our first 12 games despite the fact that Mike Lowell has hit one home run, Jeff Conine is hitting .176, and Juan Pierre has stolen only two bases. if you think that those three trends will continue, well then i wish you were in my fantasy league.... 4) our two biggest question marks coming into this season - Hee Seop Choi and Dontrelle Willis - have not only proven their worth, they have been arguably our two best players thus far. 5) our supposedly "weak" bullpen has given up a grand total of THREE earned runs in 26.1 innings. 6) Armando Benitez has shown that he still has it in him to rack up 40+ saves. 7) somewhere out there, AJ Burnett is lurking in the shadows, and all the has to do to make this team 100% better is: be better than Darren Oliver. not too tough of a task. 8) Josh Beckett is a beast. 9) Miguel Cabrera is a beast, and from now on, he'll be a beast wearing sunglasses. 10) we are in first place in the NL East!!!!!!! Let's spread some love, people! :hat
April 19, 200422 yr I'm excited, but I also fear the unknown. Our finances are not good from the indications and this ballpark is not dead, but not done either. Closure will come soon, the problem is can we deal with the result?
April 19, 200422 yr If the city doesn't provide the finances then the Marlins will be out of Florida.
April 19, 200422 yr If the city doesn't provide the finances then the Marlins will be out of Florida. You mean the state. The city's role is not required if this deal is to get done.
April 19, 200422 yr I'd like to add one more to the list: Cabs will be legal to drink alcohol in post-season celebrations this year!!!!!! :cheers
