Prime Time
I am fed up with the bandwagoners. Honestly, I really am. How are you going to complaing about our starting pitcher when the game is tied and we still have a bunch of innings to come back and salvage the victory. Not only that but Oliver is playing in Coors Field, one of the (If not THEE) best hitting parks. Another factor that plays into this is that the players are familiar with him due to the fact that he was playing here last year. Get off his case, its one game, and it is in Coors Field for crying out loud. :censored

Prime Time
Right now he has a better record than Josh Beckett. How did he suck before we got him? He is playing in Coors, he is going to give up runs, just like anyone else. Oh but of course If Beckett played and gave up 3 HRs, everyone would be like "Its okay Beckett, keep on pitching"

His last 2 starts weren't in Coors, and guess what? HE SUCKED. I'm the last guy to start ripping guys on this team, but this guy needs to go. Prime Time
This guy needs to go after a few starts? :anon Wow, If only we had said that with Josh Beckett and every other starting pitcher last year. I wonder where we would be right now.

I wonder where we would be right now. Stop comparing Darren Oliver to Josh Beckett. It doesn't even make sense. 5.73, 4.26, 7.42, 6.02, 4.66, 5.04. There's your DO ERA's in the last 6 years. Oh yeah, this guy rules. Nevermind, let's keep him for his upside. :thumbdown
Guest Juanky
Yeah but as long as he gets us 4-5 more wins from now until June 15th it is fine.

There's a big difference between a kid in this 3rd season in the majors, 1st round draft pick, and a major prospect and a freakin' journeyman who's career has almost died 3 times. Get a clue. fanofthefish
Ok so what if in your opinion he sucks. What are you planning to do about it? Are you going to send the Marlins a couple of million dollars to replace him? I didn't think so. WHo or what is out there that can replace him? I know it feels good to say he sucks but seriously what can be done about it. When he was signed it was a given that he was an average at best pitcher, the club needs someone to eat innings and give the team a chance until AJ comes back. Also this just in AJ could really suck bad when he returns. It will not be like the Fish are getting back a pitcher at 100%. Hopefully you feel bettter by making your declaration and you'll just shut up now!

fanofthefish
You mean the Justin Wayne of last year with the 11.81 ERA and the 0-2 record in 2 starts or the mediocre Justin Wayne of 2002 who went 2-3 with a 5.32 ERA. I don't see him as an option for the rotation. He's doing great in the pen and should be left there.
Das Texan
you people need to learn baseball and take off your teal glasses. Darren Oliver sucks. I tried telling you people this...but you tried to spin things constantly. He sucked last year. He sucked the year before. And the year before that... Etc. and we gave him a raise over what Colorado paid him. Damn that was wise.

Works for me Snicker. :thumbup Comparing Wayne's stuff of the past to this year is meaningless. Unlike Oliver he is still developing and should be improving.
