i think the win over the astros will give us enough motivation to win this one.

i think it will be a great win with a strong pitching performance by josh.

i say we win 5-2 with benitez getting the save.

big game by mike lowell.

and yeah saturday's game can be a ugly win.

tomorrow almost today.....marquis that former brave fag is going down.

Hello everyone. I'm new here and wanna wish you goodluck this series vs us. I still remember that awesome 20 inning game last year. Our bullpen isnt as bad as last year and our starting pitching has been surprisingly good even if their records dont indicate it. Our bat's have been slumping and they are due. Pujols went 3-4 yesterday so watch out if he gets going.

Once again, goodluck and I hope this series is great!

Yahoo! Sports Game Preview

Albert Pujols has had just about enough of this batting slump stuff.

Pujols will look to pick up where he left off in his last game when the St. Louis Cardinals open a three-game set with the visiting Florida Marlins.

After finishing second in last year's NL MVP voting to Barry Bonds, Pujols was rewarded with a $100 million, seven-year contract extension by the Cardinals, a deal that could be worth $111 million if St. Louis exercises an option for 2011.

Just 24, Pujols hit a major league-leading .359 last season with 43 homers and 124 RBIs. He also led the league with 51 doubles.

However, Pujols was batting just .267 heading into Thursday's 6-5 loss to Atlanta. Pujols, a career .329 hitter, responded with his first three-hit game of the season, upping his average to a more respectable .281

``It doesn't matter,'' Pujols said, downplaying his efforts. ``We lost, and I didn't do anything to help the team win. We got the loss, that's more important to me than any numbers.''

The defeat snapped St. Louis' three-game winning streak.

Florida is coming into this series winners of three of four, including a 3-2 victory at Houston on Thursday.

Mike Lowell went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored. Lowell has hit safely in 13 of his last 14 games, with a .404 average (21-for-52) over that span.

welcome.

please dont mind some of the less pleasant fans ( Ramp ) and enjoy the game thread.

Cards have a solid team as always and these should be decent matchups.
