May 20, 200422 yr Author Update: BaseballAmerica has updated its info with a Top 100 prospect list along with a best tools list. Just for those of us who would like to dream My favorite college relief pitcher Houston Street is ranked #27 :mischief2 Houston is also rated as the 2nd fastest to the majors only behind Jared Weaver. Stephen Drew also has some great rankings on these lists: 2nd best player in the draft 2nd best 5 tool prospect 1st rated pure hitter 3rd best strike zone judgement 2nd best defensive rating There is no chance Fla gets him, Drew looks almost a sure thing to the Tigers @ 2nd. Get your BA subscriptions and prepare for the mayhem and BS that is the MLB draft :thumbup
May 20, 200422 yr Author free agent compensation: NY lost its 28th pick for signing Paul Quantrill and gained 23rd for losign Pettitte to houston. Marlins are 27th since we finished with such a good record.

I have to think the Twins, Athletics, Yankees, or god forbid the Phillies will take Street, it sure would be sweet to get Street though.
May 21, 200422 yr Author it all depends but all i know is that guy will move fast and thats a need position for Fla.

Get your BA subscriptions and prepare for the mayhem and BS that is the MLB draft :thumbup I got to see this kid play in the UF v FSU game a awhile back and he was a stud. A SS with 12+ HR? Damn. Stephen's actually been injured for several games this year. If he was healthy the whole year, he'd have over 20 HR easily. I'll compare him to his brother since I've seen them both many times while they were at FSU. POWER JD clearly is more of a power hitter. JD hit a ball in college that may have gone 600 feet if it wouldn't have hit the trees near the circus (for those that have seen FSU's stadium, it is beyond or green monster). The ball was still going up when it hit the trees. AMAZING! As I said, Stephen could have had over 20 HRs this year had he been healthy. I believe he had 17 as a FR (I can't remember and I'm too lazy to look it up), and he missed several games the past two years. He hit leadoff his first year and hit second the past two years (split between 1/2 his second year). Both have two of the best swings I've ever seen. AVERAGE JD also wins this category. Stephen probably could have hit near .400 had he remained healthy. SBs/SPEED Stephen is even faster than JD, which is saying something since JD is the only 30/30 player in college history. Stephen can flat out fly. I'd like to see him race Pierre when both are healthy. I wouldn't be surprised if Stephen would win that race. DEFENSE JD was better in college (played CF at FSU). Stephen has great range, but makes bonehead errors a lot of the time. He may be better suited for 2B, but if Jeter can play SS in the bigs, so can Stephen. JD was rarely injured at FSU, but can't stay healthy in the pros. Stephen has been injured a lot the last two years. I wonder about his health and his heart. If he had the drive of a guy like Eckstein (Angels), he'd be an All Star every year. I could say the same about JD, though. JD easily won the Golden Spikes award as a JR (i.e., the Heismen). Stephen missed too many games to even be a finalist for the Golden Spikes award. He was preseason 1st Team All American the last two years. He has a TON of physical talent. I'd love to luck out and get him, but I doubt it. Scott Boras should cost Stephen a couple of spots.
May 27, 200422 yr and here's something more: Bartolo Colon, Raul Ibanez, and Miguel Tejada are type b free agents and MICHAEL TUCKER IS A TYPE A FREE AGENT?
May 27, 200422 yr Author and here's something more: Bartolo Colon, Raul Ibanez, and Miguel Tejada are type b free agents and MICHAEL TUCKER IS A TYPE A FREE AGENT? its a strange system. Remember how Chuck FInley was a type A FA last season and thats why nobody signed him.
