June 2, 200422 yr The Padres have turned there attention from Weaver to Drew. I guess they arent sold on Jared Weaver as a MLB stud... his performance against the canes probably hurt him drew don't have very good bloodlines health wise i'd take either Jered or Jeff Niemann #1 If you are discussing bloodlines, don't take Weaver then. :lol Here is a new article. It appears Drew may end up at 2B for the Padres. Padres taking Drew #1?
June 2, 200422 yr I'm hoping Gaby Hernandez finds a way to make it somewhere in rounds 1 or 2. Would be really cool.
June 6, 200422 yr nc marlin, who do you likes for the fish @ 27? I would love to see Zach Jackson fall to us. He's a big lefty out of Texas A&M but I don't think he'll fall to 27. I'd like to hear what Shamrock or another UF fan has to say about Justin Hoyman if they've seen him pitch. I'm always for taking the best player available though regardless of position.
June 7, 200422 yr If San Diego takes one of the Boras boys at #1 then you can expect a contract worth about 10 million I would think.
June 7, 200422 yr Frankly, they should boycott the Borass clients as a sign that the teams are in control not the players.
June 7, 200422 yr I don't see anyone passing on Drew just to prove a point to Boras. We played two games today and he went off. He had three homeruns and four near homeruns that just missed the foul poll. He'll be the NL 2B All Star for years to come if the Padres select him and move him to 2B. I expect Drew to be the first pick. If not, I hope the Mets don't get him.
June 7, 200422 yr SS Matt Bush from Mission Bay (CA) Mission Bay HS has signed with the Padres for 3.1 million. A local boy will this be a trend...Gio a Marlin? Weaver and Drew are dropping because of $$$$$$$

June 7, 200422 yr Baseball America is talking about Weaver dropping out of the 1st. How xrazy would that be!?
June 7, 200422 yr if weaver is there and we dont take him...we are stupid. signability issues or not.

June 7, 200422 yr Baseball America is talking about Weaver dropping out of the 1st. How xrazy would that be!? The game against Miami at the light a week ago or so ago really hurt him. The Mets GM was at the game and other scouts. Did not like what they saw and for the money his asking for its not worth it . :confused BUT if I 'm the Fish he falls to your lap TAKE HIM!
June 7, 200422 yr if weaver is there and we dont take him...we are stupid. signability issues or not. no way he drops to 27 i'd almost do jerry jones cartwheels if he did.
June 7, 200422 yr if weaver is there and we dont take him...we are stupid. signability issues or not. no way he drops to 27 Your right signability won't be a problem for the Yankees at 23 :confused , but it would drop a talented pitcher like Gio or Zack Jackson
June 7, 200422 yr Baseball America's Updated 1st round Projection Has Stephen Drew Falling to the 19th Pick (Cardinals), and Weaver dropping to the 23rd pick (Yankees) and the marlins taking Tyler Lumsden out of Clemnson. Top 10: 1. SS Matt Bush 2. P Justin Verlander 3. P Phillip Humber 4. P Jeff Niemann 5. P Mark Rogers 6. P Jermey Sowers 7. P Homer Bailey 8. SS Chris Nelson 9. P Wade Townsend 10. P Scott Elbert

I'd be very comfortable with us taking Hoyman. Hes less risky than most others and is very polished in terms of command.
June 7, 200422 yr In the later rounds, how about the Catcher from the University of Miami? His name is Erick San Pedro.
To their brothers' former teams. :lol

June 7, 200422 yr SS Matt Bush from Mission Bay (CA) Mission Bay HS has signed with the Padres for 3.1 million. A local boy will this be a trend...Gio a Marlin? Have the Padres picked yet? Is the Bush pick official? The inability to trade top picks hurts the lesser teams. Weaver falling to the Yankees would be a joke. For the Yankees to get him at 23 and not have to trade anything of value defeats the whole purpose of a fair and equatable draft. :thumbdown
June 7, 200422 yr Well there also saying, The Yanks might opt not to take him because of the Pressure and what happened to his brother. If that happens they say he could fall as far as to the 65th or 66th Picks (Redsox and Cubs)
