What can Marlins possibly do at Catcher position?

Recommended Posts

I think Redmond is doing a good job when he gets his chance. He has done well with the opportunities given to him. Also, I think, that we should drop Castro to the minors or just flat out cut him and bring up our young gun Willingham and let him get a few starts every now and then and let him gain experience.

Is there any Catcher available in a possible trade or waiting for Josh promotion is Fish only option? Willingham homered tonight. His 9th on the season. Beinfest:

What you waiting for? :whistle

What you waiting for? :whistle I still don't think it is a good idea. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't he just start to play the catcher position this year. Not an easy thing to adjust to. He's doing well right now which is good, Still have to wait a while I think before any move is made. By the end of June if things haven't changed then make a move IF Willingham has continued to improve. This isn't exactly an easy pitching staff to catch for either. What other options are there though is the problem. More than likely he or Treanor are the only options.

At this point in the year, the only changes come from in house options meaning that I think it's Treanor or Willingham. The thing that kills me about Castro is just when he shows signs of coming around, he quickly falls back to his old ways.

By August 1st, I honestly believe we'll have a new starting catcher, but getting there is going to be a test of all of our patiences...

Well Treanor ain't the solution to anything, because he just isn't a good hitter, which is what we need. If a catcher is gonna come up, it's going to be Willingham, and Castro will have to be gone for that to happen, 'cause Beinfest ain't gonna carry three questionmark catchers.

Check the stats before you make a statement.

yes we do have to do something about castro but bringing up a catcher from the minors will not solve this problem...we need to get a solid catcher that has established himself already we have no time for projects...yes redmond is good a good catcher but he's a back up at best...

Maybe Willingham is the answer, but let's not get too excited...remember, Castro had some monster years in the minors too, and that hasn't helped the Fish too much this year. I think Redmond needs to start as often as he effectively can and maybe we should check out Willingham or Treanor and see how they can handle big league pitching.
