June 5, 200323 yr Defensively I think Alex is second in the NL only to Edgar, so yes, he is elite. And if we are still talking about right now, he is not only an elite SS, but the best hitting SS in the NL...

We have potentially the best SS in the NL, best 3B, best 2B, best C, and a solid OF with some good pitchers. I do not get it at all. I guess it is the RISP.
June 5, 200323 yr Author you hit the nail on the head Bandit... and alot of times, it's either Pudge or DLee up with a chance to break the game open and they either GIDP or K...respectively
June 5, 200323 yr No, this is just a team that gets hits in bunches, and when they get those hits in bunches, they score a ton of runs. When they don't, they score 2-3 runs.

But look-up the career stats... Pudge is usually awesome when it is a clutch situation...

Edgar has a .341 avg 6 homers and 42 RBI how is that not good? Last year he hit .303 11 homers and 83 RBI. To me thats a proven hitter.

He has proven he is a vary good, solid hitter. But never great. I didn't know Edgar's stats on the season, though. They are pretty even. We'll see where they are at the end of the year...
June 5, 200323 yr Renteria is the best SS in the NL right now, but Alex isn't too far behind. Renteria has been a good hitter for years now I think he gets better every year, and one thing we all know about renteria is he can hit in clutch situations.

June 5, 200323 yr There is only one elite shortstop in the NL right now. That is Edgar. Sea Bass and Furcal are knocking on the door and if they continue their ways can be considered in that category by the end of the year...provided they dont regress next year. The other Alex Gonzalez.....he is an above average shortstop, but I wouldnt consider him elite in anyway.
June 5, 200323 yr Edgar is now doing Slightly better than Seas Bass but i like them both. I know they are both very good at Defense but like someone said before he can hit clutch, Alex is learning now. He has got alot of cluth hits with us though.
June 5, 200323 yr LOOK I BELIVE ALEX IS THE BEST SHORTSTOP IN THE NL FOR KNOW , RIGHT KNOW HE LOOKS LIKE HE CAN KEEP THIS UP 4 A WHILE . AND IF HE DOES DO THIS HE WILL BE IN ALL STAR AND ANOTHER FREE AGENT :angry OH AND YES ALEX IS THE BEST D# SHORTSTOP IN THE NL . HE ONLY MAKES AN ERROR TRYING TO MAKE SIMPLE PLAYES LOOK HARD
June 6, 200323 yr first off this is my first post on this NEW site. some old vets may remember the name, but probably not. do i think alex is an elite SS? I would have to say...umm...kinda he is an exceptional defensive SS with a good bat. Edgar is the best hands down. I would like to add that Alex is the BEST 8 whole hitter in the league. i don't like when they play this new kid in left and bat him 8th keep gonzo there. He is killin the ball.
