I hate you but gotta respect.

Hopefully the NHL will retool themselves so we can see more great hockey like this in the future...

yea im w/ you on that one. not the team i was rooting for but well deserved.

Heres to Hockey in 04-05 :cheers

I don't think the bandwagon will ever leave Florida... :(

Bucs, *cough* fish *cough*, now the Bolts.

Atleast we know the Devil Rays won't be in the playoffs anytime soon.

The Marlins really didn't have that many bandwagoners that I noticed, so they're not as bad. What I saw tonight from Lightning 'fans' was ridiculous.

If there's a city in the NHL that didn't deserve a championship It's Tampa...remember, they're the same team that was ridiculously close to moving to Portland because of lack of fan support.

Shame...I disagree about the Marlins not having many bandwagoners, but Tampa Bay makes me physically sick.

i noticed that as well. tampa bay fans didnt deserve this championship though the team itself did. i remember when TB wasnt that great barely anyone ever in the seats. sad

Yup, I agree...they clearly are a great team. Tortorella is a great coach and theres just a load of skill on that team. That being said, It's a shame they have to play in such a dump of a city, If you've ever gone up there to watch a Lightning/Panther game or met any of the Lightning fans down here, they are the most dissrespectful fans I've ever seen.

They don't deserve this at all...it really is a shame.

That being said, for us Cat fans, Tampa's success started after the firing of Dudley...hopefully a similar path will be taken here.

Well, that's true for a lot of teams. A bad team doesn't get too many fans. Heck, the Marlins were champions last year and got a lower attendance than the Tigers.

The fact is bandwagoners make me sick. Especially the ones who think that if a pro team starts being successful in their home state, they have a strong connection with them. I saw two country boys (rednecks) cheering for the Lightning tonight with a passion. They didn't know any of the rules of hockey. And it was like that with about 75% of the people in Beef O'Bradys. I actually started cheering for the Flames in disgust.

i also believe the so. fl hockey fans are quite loyal. even tho we were out of contention the ODC was pretty packed at times. i was at a couple games and it was jammed packed. i dont think we have many bandwagoners when it comes to hockey

I'm sure Miami doesn't, but the rest of the state would jump on the bandwagon so quickly. That's just sports fans in Florida. They ain't right. If the Jaguars or the Dolphins won the super bowl this year, people would be celebrating all across the state, no matter what. If the D-Rays turned their season around right now and won the championship, how many fans would there be then? A LOT. Florida sports bandwagon fans suck.

Florida sports bandwagon fans suck. not entirely true. football has a huge fan base here. not many bandwagoners. Hockey actually has a good following. like i said our panthers werent contending near the end, but fans still showed cause they enjoy this game. and thats just to watch a young team coming into their own. wait till next year when the cats will turn it all around

anyways sports needs bandwagoners. thats how it all gets started. i wasnt a hockey fan until the cats made it to the finals since then im a hockey fanatic and have played the sport several times and would like to get back into it.

i believe that there are a good number of tampa bay fans that deserved this win. for those that jumped on the bandwagon good for them too. when it comes to places that are new to a certain sport (at least relatively) then they need something big like this to awaken them. look at the turn out this season compared to last for the marlins. i think you have to have at least some interest in the sport to become a fan at all. i did not jump on the heat bandwagon even though they did really well cuz i dont like basketball very much.

Still tho....GO CATS

Very well said, BB84.

I am very happy that the Lightning won. They are the team I was rooting for throughout the playoffs and these series. It feels great when the little guy wins.....plus, it's a Florida team. ;)

yea i didnt even really like hockey until right before the cats went to the cup. then after that playoff run i became a huge fan even though they lost and i started to play hockey as well. i think hockey is one of the funnest sports arounds (even when i have to wear all that goalie gear in the blistering miami sun) and i probably wouldnt really know about it if it wasnt for jumping on that bandwagon.

marlins i happened to like from the begining but i think that might have to do with my cuban surroudings and baseball.

i was rooting for the san jose sharks in the playoffs. i actually thought that the sharks would play the lightning in the cup since the begining of the season and i was vry close. i think they lighting proved from the very begining that they deserved to be there.

yea i kno how you feel. i played goalie too, but all that sun was worth cause this game is THE best game in the WORLD!!!!

i wanted TB to win not because i like them or they are from florida rather that they are from the united states. ABC kept saying that TB was a new hockey town, GIVE ME A BREAK!!! i personally hate TB like the simpsons hate shelbyville. they are miami's sports and whatever else enemy. but i'll tell you this; these playoffs have made me fall in love with hockey. i plan to go to some panthers games next year (if possible).

you wont be dissappointed. hockey is the most exciting sport to watch AND play

its alright to hate TB teams cuz you are from miami. teams rivalries are fun. i dont have anything against tampa bay for some reason. i dont hate the bucs cuz i dont really like football. i like too many teams in hockey to really say that i am a pure panther fan (honestly i havent been a true panther fan since the beezer left but i still root for them and i do love luongo :) ) so i dont hate the lightning. and though i am a die hard marlins fan the rays blow way too much for me to hate them lol.

i do agree on the USA part. i despise most canadian teams and just plain dont like the other ones. there is something about their snobbish outlook on the sport and their teams that make me hate them.
