Posted July 1, 200420 yr June: 43 of 86, batting .500 :o Just check out the sig. The Tigers bats are on fire.
July 1, 200420 yr Author This thread will be over run with hate once the Game Thread lets out 434427 This I know, but I don't care. You gotta give props where props are due.
July 1, 200420 yr Author And look at that Uni, best looking one in all of sports 434433 Agreed.
July 1, 200420 yr Well he is EARNING every cent of that paycheck with his play. 434443 That's what I said.
July 1, 200420 yr At least Pudge is earning the $40 million he sold his soul for. Good for him. 434440 Sold his soul for? He gets paid to play a baseball game!! How you equate that to selling his soul, I have no idea. BTW, the Tigers are only 2 games under .500 and within 5 games of first place. With all of the close games they have lost this year (over 2/3 of their games decided by one run), they could easily be over .500. There's no dominant teams here in the AL Central.

I really hope he does well for you guys, but that article written right before the marlins played the tigers talking about how much he missed his family in miami and his teammates from the marlins just pissed me off because he chose the $$ over staying at home with his family and having a chance to win another world series.

It's really amazing that last year the Tigers probably had the worst offensive catcher and shortstop in the big leagues and now they have the best. As of right now, both should be MVP canidates (although I think Vlad is the MVP at this point of the season). He did a great job with those 2 acquisitions. I'm glad he got Guillen re-signed at a reasonable price as well.
July 1, 200420 yr I think Ortiz is the MVP, but I am biased. 434497 He has been great too. It's hard to say at this point because there are a lot of deserving players.
July 1, 200420 yr Author and all they really gave up for Guillen was Ramon Santiago. Inge is not good offensively, but has been a strong utility man thus far. Really, I wouldn't change too much with this team right now, although we need a better bullpen. There has been much trade talk on the Tigers boards about Urbina getting shipped at the deadline for some prospects. He's the best we have though in the pen, and as we saw last night, Franklyn German just can't pitch in the bigs.
July 1, 200420 yr Author Vlady is the MVP in my opinion with Ortiz in a close 2nd 434510 That sounds about right. Pudge would be 3rd IMO.
July 1, 200420 yr Karma will catch up with Greedy Ol' #7 eventually....... But for now, all I can say is the man is killing the ball.

He signed with the Tigers who offered the contract he wanted. It's not like he took a pay cut and signed with a championship contender after playing seventeen seasons in one city...
July 1, 200420 yr This is no surprise. Everyone knew Pudge could play at a very high level. The question is (and always has been) how long before he breaks his spine and misses 5,10, 50 or 100 games?

But there are clauses in the contract dealing with those issues.
July 1, 200420 yr Pudge is the man. The man is not showing any signs of slowing down. He is the MVP over Ortiz and Vlady. IMO, he is responsible for putting the 2003 worst team in baseball in the map in 2004.
