July 2, 200422 yr and what about the guy we just brought up? forgot his name...he sucks....bring up borland or neu or justin wayne or is he still not able to come up yet.
July 2, 200422 yr Small didn't suck. You can't expect him not to let runs in with the mess Tejera left him. He did better than I expected.
July 2, 200422 yr give alvarez a shot..he proved himself last year here be4 being demoted for vladimir...
July 2, 200422 yr You people amaze me!! A few weeks ago, you couldn't wait until Bump's butt was sent to AAA. Now you can't wait to see him!! Boy baseball fans are fickle. Bump last pitched 7 innings on Monday night. He did great in Albuquerque. After last night, I 'm beginning to think this team is jinxed!

July 2, 200422 yr Let's end this curse crap right now. Pudge never intended to return this season. That is why he badmouthed the team saying they just lost the biggest piece. Yup, we lost the biggest piece of ungrateful crap to wear the teal and black.

July 2, 200422 yr welcome back Bumper! I agree with whomever metioned giving Juan Alvarez a shot over Perisho. He did a decent job last season. Also Wayne should eventually be back up. It is pretty funny how this revolving door between the Marlins and AAA is going though... Billy Koch certainly hasn't been any help, can't blame them for trying I guess.
July 2, 200422 yr I think we need to chill out with the bullpen rotation until after the AllStar game. If their arms aren't fresh after the break then we really need to consider moving people around.
July 2, 200422 yr Statistically, I guess Koch was a good try. But, Marlin's scouts (or whatever decision makers) didn't appreciate Koch's problems. Koch should be with the 'Topes to re-work himself. Give him a breather to focus and maybe some decent help. This on-the-job re-training is going to be very frustrating for all concerned. I guess regurgitating our own pen prospects is better than buying new garbage. Our budget makes it tough. I'm glad they "tried" with Koch. Do we have someone actually, hands-on responsible for the development of minor league pitchers? ...think I'll post that question as a topic
July 2, 200422 yr Tejera's problem seems to be more mental than mechanical, he has always had control problems, but whenever he gets his shot in the majors lately (end of last yera and now) he cant find the strike zone. As for Bump, i dont know why everyone is so happy to see him, because the fact remains that he was not performing well in the bigs, and if the demotion was a way to work with him or whatever they intended to do, they should have kept him down much longer, so that it has an effect. What are they going to do now? If Bump continues to struggle in the bigs are they going to keep sending him up then back down then back up. This is absurd. And by the way the answer to our bullpen woes is not in our minor league system. As for Koch, he isnt going to be sent down. Neat the deadline however, it may be possible that some team will be willing to take him off our hands at that point, because some teams are always willing to gamble on relief pitching, just as the yankees and mariners did last year even after benitez's struggles continued because both teams thought he might turn it around. Same can happen with Koch

I, for one, am not excited about this. Bump sucked here and who's to say he won't suck again? What would really change? It's not like he'd be starting. I liked Small last night. We have to think realistically about his role.. I'll excuse runs scoring in the first inning because he inherited runners and had like, no time to warm up. After that we got two scoreless innings out of him and that's exactly what we need from our pen.
July 2, 200422 yr Ho hum. Does anyone expect Bump to do any better than his last time up here? Face it. Bump is not the answer. Just another pitcher in our revolving door bullpen. Everyone will be screaming to dump him again after he blows a few more close games.
July 2, 200422 yr who ever said he was "the answer"? Actually in an ideal situation he's probably our 6th bullpen option. (After Benitez, Fox, Koch, Wayne, and Manzy) But things are not ideal. If they use him sparingly he's fine. Better at least than Perisho or Koch (or probably Oliver) and you never know if Ben Howard's going to throw strikes or not. In stretches at least, Bump has done a fair job. Remember last season for a short while before we got Uggie, Bump was holding down the 7th, Fox threw the 8th, & Loop pitched the 9th. He's sucked at times, don't misunderstand me. But used sparingly I think he's alright.
July 2, 200422 yr Come on lets sing.... BUMPITY BUMP BUMP BUMPITY BUMP BUMP LOOK AT BUMP PITCH! 436304[/snapback] :plain I changed my mind, send him back down.

Bump has the ability, but cannot handle pressure situations. So as long as we pitch him sparingly when the game is not on the line he should be OK? Yeah, just what we need, another mop up pitcher in the bullpen.
July 2, 200422 yr Eh, I have no point really... I'm just grasping at straws here. The pen is in shambles, I just happen to feel that Bump at least has a better chance to get the job done when called on than some of the other guys we've had in there, that's all.

On another note: Why FO wasting a roster spot on Darren Oliver?

July 2, 200422 yr we need to stop picking up people trash "koch" and AAA players and get some ML arms in the pen or we are in deep deep s***...what we saw yesterday was sick and we dont do something quick thats what we are going to see everytime our SP does not get to 7th or 8th inn.
July 2, 200422 yr I honestly never thought I would be glad to see Nate Bump come back, but considering he is replacing garbage Tejera, hell yeah!
July 2, 200422 yr Author All I know is that Bump is very capable of becoming a good reliever from what I saw last season
