July 19, 200422 yr flamarlins.com Notes: Straight from the notes: "Bump to start Tuesday: Because of Beckett's injury, the Marlins rotation has shuffled. After Sunday's game, manager Jack McKeon announced reliever Nate Bump as the starter for Tuesday against the Mets at Shea Stadium. A starter throughout his career in the minors, Bump has worked exclusively as a reliever in his Major League career. He has appeared in 28 games of relief this season, posting a 2-3 record with a 4.31 ERA. The Marlins would like to get about five innings from Bump, who started a couple of Triple-A games a few weeks ago. Lefty Darren Oliver will be looked at as a long-relief option to follow Bump if he struggles in the early innings."
July 19, 200422 yr Good news... hopefully he'll start the 25th if Beckett isn't back yet - I will be at two of the games in Montreal (Saturday and Sunday) and it would be great to see him pitch again.

July 19, 200422 yr Bump is good but if he runs into trouble I'd rather him pitch through it than see Oliver work in relief Oliver belongs in Colorado...
July 19, 200422 yr You live in Montreal? or ur going to fly there... 463822 Actually, neither. My family was planning to drive to Canada for a vacation this summer (we live in Maine so it is not as bad as driving from Florida ) and the Marlins happened to be in town during the same time we were planning the trip. :thumbup
July 19, 200422 yr I have nothing against him starting. I guess he would be the best option at this point.
July 19, 200422 yr Not hating on Nate...but why not Oliver? Neither of them are overwhelming so what is preventing us from giving Oliver that one last chance?

July 19, 200422 yr Not hating on Nate...but why not Oliver? Neither of them are overwhelming so what is preventing us from giving Oliver that one last chance? 463873 because nate hasn't had his chance yet and nate could be an option for next year in a starting role

July 19, 200422 yr Bump and Oliver...great news. I hope we can score 10 runs. Good luck to him anyway.
July 19, 200422 yr Thats good news to hear. I dont want Oliver starting, he's better in the bullpen. Bump has started in the Minors so thats a plus. I look foward to that game.... But please lets give Bump some offense.
July 19, 200422 yr And defense. Remember all those routine groundouts that made their way onto the outfield grass?
