June 19, 200323 yr Favre is the most "winningest" QB in the Past 3 years. Its not even close. Jay didnt play in 5 games last year or 1 game in 2000, which brought down the team winning percentage. Brett Favre: 9-7, 12-4, 12-4, winning %=68.75 Jay Fiedler: 10-5, 11-5, 7-4, winning %=66.67 Thats a difference of one more win, so don't go sounding like its proposterous that Fiedler has won as much a Favre. You make it sound like Fiedler is a piece of garbage. Whether you want to admit it or not, Fiedler is a winner on the field. If Favre is such a God to you, and Fielder is only one win behind him, then what does that make him?
June 20, 200323 yr The real numbers Fiedler: 2000 - 11-6 2001 - 11-5 2002 - 7-3 Total = 29-14 = 67% Win % Favre: 2000 - 9-7 2001 - 12-4 2002 - 12-4 Total = 33-15 = 68.75% Win % Brady 2000 - 0-0 2001 - 11-2 2002 - 9-7 Total = 20-9 = 68.97% Win % Tommy Maddux [you'll love this!] 2000 - out of football 2001 - 0-0 2002 - 7-3 Total = 7-3 = 70% Win % Just the facts. :thumbup
June 20, 200323 yr The real numbers Fiedler: 2000 - 12-6 2001 - 11-5 2002 - 9-7 Total = 32-18 = 64% Win % Not that it really matters, but those numbers are off. 12-6 in 2000? there are not even that many games. jay missed 1 game that year, so his record was 10-5. in 2002, the team went 9-7, but 2-3 in the games Jay missed, so his record was 7-4. the records I put up were correct.
June 20, 200323 yr he was counting playoff games in 2000, which doesnt make sense because he didnt add the playoff loss from 2001. but like you pointed out, he counted games that he didnt play in.
June 20, 200323 yr Nobody can make a strong argument against that "Montana Magic." It's hard for me to decide between Montana and Elway b/c I grew up a Giants fan. I just revel in the fact that I watched Phil Simms beat them both... One for the NFC Championship and the other in the Superbowl :mischief But hot damn - you could NEVER count out the 49ers with Joe Montana behind center. 31 fourth quarter come-from-behind wins, including a 92-yard drive in the closing seconds of Super Bowl XXIII? That's insane... You can't coach that...
My mistake - I missed out on the 2002 numbers. I was counting instead of looking at starts - as I did in the rest of the numbers. I also corrected for 1 game in 2000 - 11-6 not 12-6. I accidentally gave him credit for somebody else's win. I made an error that resulted in adding 3% points to Fiedler's numbers - still short of the others mentioned. http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/1236...3/gamelogs/2000 http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/1236...3/gamelogs/2001 http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/12363/gamelogs for 2002 The post above has been edited to reflect my errors and the changes mentioned above. And, as Ross pointed out, this results in a difference of two wins between Fiedler and Favre. However, as alluded to by the Brady and Maddux numbers, Favre has played in 5 more games [12% more] which means Fiedler's numbers are impacted greater by each win or loss. If he LOSES those 2 games, he'll be back down to 64%.
June 21, 200323 yr One win? Where do you get that? Its 2. I know big difference. But still, "a win is a win is a win." And Fiedler is a decent QB. Not a piece of garbage. But he is in comparison to Favre. Feidler is good enough to be our 2nd stringer. But I look for Griese to start anyways for you guys. And well Tommy Maddux- that doesn't really count. He never played a full season the past 3 years. And the playoffs, when you look in the record books you wont see--- 13-5, or 12-5. Because they only count regular season into WP, dont ask why. I think playoffs should count also.
June 21, 200323 yr Feidler is good enough to be our 2nd stringer. Fiedler is good enough to be anyones back-up QB. If there is one quality a team likes in a back-up QB, it's that he wins games...
February 13, 200422 yr i think it is funny that in this thread everyone was saying how great fiedler was and now most of them are saying he sucks.
February 14, 200422 yr I picked elway. i dont know why. though this vote might be a little tighter in a say titans forum.
February 14, 200422 yr Well just because Dan never won a ring dosent mean he was not as good as Montana or whomever is on that list. Winning a superbowl is a team effort not a single man's accomplishment. The Bucs just won a SB with Johnson the Ravens did it with Dilfer. None of these two guys compare to Dan. Marino never had a good RB to help him win a ring. I know winning a SB is important but put that fact away and he was the greatest. Yes it's a team effort but The QB is the one who leads that team and is the one you trust to win that game. Look at Jay he is surrouned by possibly The Best team in The NFL but... Why don't they win? It's not because they don't mix it's because The Guy who leads them stinks! Try to complain as you may but The QB is measured on his wins not his stats because those stats are empty if they don'y accomplish anything... One of the league worst oline and no WR that can produce beside Chambers. Not to mention a running game that average 3.5 yards per carry which was good for 30th in the league. Second Why Bob Griese even in this poll?He was nothing special.. Dan Marino is the greatest QB to play his position. You can bring up all you want about not winning the ring but there no other QB that I'll take over him in his prime.
