July 26, 200422 yr Len, Tommy, Dave, and Boog are all employees of the broadcasting outlets they work for. Len, Tommy, and Craig paid by FSN Florida. Dave and Boog by WQAM/Marlins Radio Affiliates.
July 26, 200422 yr tommy did mention last year he wasn't paid by the marlins when he kept talking good things about management when all the moves were made.
July 26, 200422 yr Tommy and Boog are analysts. Dave and Len are play by play guys and should refrain from editorializing, although when Dave and Boog trade off jobs, he becomes the analyst.

FSN sells the ads and makes money from PAX telecasts.
July 26, 200422 yr Eh, I feel bad now. I'm sorry for personal insults, it's out of line. I'm a little hormonal right now. But really: Don't dis Len and Tommy. Ever watch a Braves game? COMATOSE 475413[/snapback] Funny but true. I hate to watch the Braves. The guy sounds like a Geritol commercial. I enjoy hearing Len and Tommy. I've seen them a few times before games talking with people and they're quite nice to the fans. I'm not that stupid that when I see a bad play or men left on base, I don't realize how it hurts the game. I just don't need some announcer ripping into it as well. I believe Len and Tommy report the game fairly and try to make the best out of bad situations.
July 26, 200422 yr I only have good things to say about Len and Tommy, personally i think there the best broadcasters in the Majors that I've heard. Were not always going to agree with what they say, but with that said, I think there talking their opinions whether it sounds like Loria ass kissing, well... oh well. There is no other pair of guys I'd rather listen too than Len and Tommy, NO OTHERS.
July 26, 200422 yr I love all of our broadcasters... even Boog and Dave on the radio. Len and Tommy are awesome. Boog said something hilarious during yesterday's game....He said: "If you were to ask whether the glass was half full or half empty as far as the Marlins offense is concerned, I think the answer would be.......what glass?"

Thanks for sharing. Great stuff.
July 26, 200422 yr Tommy Hutton and Kasper are great announcers but they do sometimes go on Loria's side and give him the reasons. I have just picked that up. But no question about it, they are very good.
July 26, 200422 yr The reason I watch/listen to the Marlins broadcast is because I want the homeristic view. I am a fan, I shouldn't have to worry about the team's finances or things the ownership doesn't want me to worry about. That is the big difference between how the press in South Florida treats the Dolphins and the Marlins. All 4 do a good job and will hopefully continue with the Marlins for a long time to come.
July 26, 200422 yr I love Len and Tommy, there is nothing better than having them call the team's home runs, base hits, defensive plays, etc. Try listening to Van Boring call Mickey's home runs, it makes you yawn sometimes. Instead, Len is so excited he makes your heart jump. Now that our team is at an all time low, the last thing we need is someone to keep hammering what we already know. Len and Tommy actually offer pretty knowleadgeable insight into the game and many times you feel their frustration when the guys can't hit clutch.

I live for Len's "DEEP TO LEFT!" calls, it makes me even more pumped up. Len and Tommy also provide excellent comic relief, those guys crack me up. It's like watching a game with pals and honestly, when we had games on ESPN and FOX I missed them!

July 26, 200422 yr All the sportscasters down here are very fan friendly and accesible. Like for the Panthers Rimer and Potvin were some of the nicest people I ever met. And the Marlins, Kasper and Hutton own. They are seriously the best broadcasters in baseball right now. They compliment the other team when it is due and keep the game fair without being homers like the Cubbies broadcasters. I listened to them and was sickened by there homeristic nature.
July 26, 200422 yr Author Since someone brought up Craig Minervini... affable, always personalable PIMP... He was asked on his carefully staged "Ask Craig" portion of his pre-game show about the situation with RAMON CASTRO. He lied. Bald-faced lied. Let's take it to Court. His total (Company) BS on tape versus the still carefully hidden facts that he knows. Watched a couple of college play-off games that Craig did as play-by-play. He was really very good. Too bad such a talented guy sells out so easily. If you can't answer a Question honestly, don't answer it!

The official organization stance is that Castro is on the DL with a sore toe and Craig has every responsibility as a representative of this organization to go along with it. You really think the Marlins are gonna broadcast the rapist angle? By the way, it's bold-faced lie, not bald-faced lie.

July 26, 200422 yr I like Van Horne and Boog, they are pretty good. What I have heard from Tommy and Len has been good. I personally like to hear the homers opinion. Look at DJ and Hawk on WGN for the Sox. Completely ridiculous how they root for home team but htey are entertaining. Cubs guys are big homers too. Its nice to hear the home guys talk about hte team rather than a guy like McGarver or Buck who stay neutral.
