There is a report out that Kris Benson was traded to the Twins with Jose Mesa for Doug Mientkiwicz and a prospect to be named. More to follow.

Wow the Twins didn't have to give up much if that is true.

Twins are a solid team. They play hard.

 

Benson is yet to pan out though. He's never been THAT impressive, but good trade for the Twins nonetheless.

Why would Twinkies take Benson? They are the epitamy of not paying for anyone. They bring 'em up from minors, milk them for everything they're worth and when they're up for new contract, they never resign them...I guess they really wanted a 2 month lease.

Benson AND Mesa for just Douggie? Prospect must be bigtime or this is a highway train robbery.

I heard that Douggie M. could possibly be on his way from PIT to BOS if this is actually true (for a few prospects). It'll be interesting to see what happens when all is said and done.

Douggie M. at 1B for the Sox would also mean a nice little platoon in RF with Kapler and Millar.

Hate to call bust but it's being said ATL is in the race for Benson and they seem to be as likely as others. From what I heard, its just Benson.

sounds like the twins are bankin on this one mayb they intend on dealing mesa cuse they already have a young closer i think Nathan so unless hes a setup they prob deal him

I don't think I've made any secret of it that Doug Mientkiewicz is my favorite player.

 

And finally I spelled his name right, but now that he's been traded its to late.

 

This sucks.

 

Twins country will always remember and despise Mesa for ending Kirby Puckett's illustrious career. If we have Mesa he sure as hell won't be the closer, Joe Nathan is an All Star Closer. But he COULD make a decent set up man to replace LaTroy Hawkins.

 

But what the Twins should do is trade Mesa for possibly another bat.

 

But we're really high on Justin Morneau, and he's the reason we may or already have traded Doug M., I sure hope we didn't trade Doug though.

 

Because Morneau is a power hitter, and we're talking power. But his defense is nothing compared to Doug's.
