August 1, 200422 yr I'd actually question why Perisho was even taken out. Sure, Batista is a righty, but after were two lefties. Plus, one of the outs Perisho got was righty. If anything pitch protectively to Batisita and go after one of the two lefties with Perisho. Saves an arm.

Kinda makes you wish we had another lefty in there too though. I think McKeon has felt real comfortable going with Manzy lately. With the new additions to our bullpen, I'm hoping that they can all have a defined role, as opposed to coming in based on Jack's hunches. I don't usually like to second guess Jack, but I've been wondering why he's been relying on Manzy so much. I knew he'd start to fall apart sooner or later.
August 1, 200422 yr I wish this were this easy but here goes we gotta face every team like its the last game in the world series..or like we're facing the phillies, either way works But anyways, lets just hope Lo-D, Enc, Mota, and the other guys we got, + the guys we have now can spark something. We should probably try this line-up: 1. Castillo 2B 2. Pierre CF 3. Lowell 3B 4. Cabrera LF/1B 5. Lo Duca C 6. Encarnacion RF 7. Conine LF/1B 8. Gonzalez SS 9. Pitcher Just a thought for the game
August 1, 200422 yr Gotta have Paulie third IMO 488120 1. Castillo 2B 2. Pierre CF 3. Lo Duca C 4. Cabrera LF/1B 5. Lowell 3B 6. Encarnacion RF 7. Conine LF/1B 8. Gonzalez SS 9. Pitcher hows that?

August 1, 200422 yr I'm impressed that we lost and put up more than 2 runs. I think Beinfest isn't quite as stupid as some of us may have suspected. Lo Duca = teh man.

August 1, 200422 yr We've dug ourselves a pretty deep hole caving in to last place teams the past two weeks. It's nice to be optimistic, but even with the additions to the club, I'm not sure we'll ever catch up to the Braves. My bet is this trade happened about a month too late. We had an easy schedule in July. It was a time to pull ahead, and instead we find ourselves miserably behind. We went 11-15 while watching the Braves go 20-6. These past two games were must wins...and both of our "aces" had sub par outings. Beckett gave us 3 poor innings, Burnett 6 so-so innings. They both exposed our weak bullpen and we lost. It may not be impossible to catch up, but we're going to need some help from the Braves, and right now that doesn't look very likely. We're going to have to see a very strong road trip to stay in the race. I've got my fingers crossed, but am not very optimistic right now.
August 1, 200422 yr Well, we are 6 out of the Wild Card 488150 Yes, but there are 4 teams ahead of us, 3 of them by four games or more. It will be easier to catch up to the Braves than pass all 5 of these teams.

If anything pitch protectively to Batisita and go after one of the two lefties with Perisho. Is he done for the season? He would be a nice long relieve/matchup guy, and would allow us to save Perisho for late in the game.
August 1, 200422 yr My bet would be on Ramp's lineup with LoDuca batting third and Encarnacion 7th. As for catching the Braves, there's still A LOT of baseball to be played. And don't forget, we still play the Braves around 6 more times this year, so anything can happen.
August 1, 200422 yr I was listening to the game at work. When LoDuca hit the HR, I went nutz. My boss was looking at me like I was crazy. Then only 40 mins later, a freakin GS. I was baffled when Perisho was taken out. He should have stayed in. Anyway, winning tommorow is the most important thing. We have to AT LEAST take 2 of 3 against Arizona. I say at least because everytime I hope for a sweep(both expos series) in the marlins favor, we fare bad. And we must take 2 of 3 against Mil. A LEAST. I'd love to see two sweeps. But thats a tought thing to do. And we have to beat Arizona, they dont have Finley anymore so, they only have what...Sexton and the Unit to worry about. But when the hell did Termell Sledge(coolest name ever...)Tony Batista, Nick Johnson and Brad Wilkerson become Marlin killers.... AH. I swear, We just have to pray we win and Atlanta AND Philly looses tommorow. COME ON CUBS AND MUTS. Muts can't do anything right.
August 1, 200422 yr I'll bat Encarnacion 9th, the pitcher would probably get a hit before he ever does. Besides, I have the feeling he is bringing some bad karma with him and that will alter the chemistry in the clubhouse. Damn Walker couldn't approve the trade; guess he felt too comfortable putting up 300 + numbers in Moon High Stadium... no worries, you just missed your chance at a WS in your pretty pathetic 16 years of baseball... :thumbdown
