November 23, 200421 yr According to usatoday.com, Padres signed P Rudy Seanez to a 1-year contract. 620655 Best of luck to Rudy.
November 24, 200421 yr Rudy Seanez - R - Padres Padres signed RHP Rudy Seanez, who had been with the Marlins, to a one-year contract. Seanez has never lost more than four games in a season. Where's his two-year deal? Actually, he's just happy to get the guaranteed contract after spending part of 2002 and most of 2003 in the minors. The 36-year-old bounced back and had a 3.33 ERA in 46 innings for the Royals and Marlins last season. Amazingly, that's the second highest innings total of his career. The Padres know they can't count on Seanez to stay healthy, but he should be a reasonable 11th or 12th pitcher when he is available. Nov. 23 - 6:58 pm et
November 24, 200421 yr Another brilliant move by our staff not retaining him...this offseason spells doom and disaster and before you all jump on me...i considered him the second best arm in the pen behind Mando.
November 24, 200421 yr The only memories of Rudy I have are him giving up inherited runners, again and again.
November 24, 200421 yr I want to start hearing stories about the marlins getting people, not about everyone leaving. :thumbdown

November 24, 200421 yr Heh. Seanez was a type C free agent. If the Marlins tender him arbitration by December 7th, we'll get an extra draft pick after the 2nd round.

November 24, 200421 yr The only memories of Rudy I have are him giving up inherited runners, again and again. 620679 Same here, no lead, no matter how large, was never safe with Rudy on the mound.
November 24, 200421 yr I don't think it's a big loss, as long as we pick up some veterans to fill the bullpen.
November 24, 200421 yr Good luck Rudy. Here's the deal. Rudy Seanez will receive $550,000 and can make an additional $400,000 in bonuses under the terms of his contract with the Padres. In addition to his base salary, Seanez would get $50,000 each for 45, 50, 55, 60 and 65 appearances, and $75,000 each for 70 and 75. Seanez's career high for appearances is 56 (1999) and his next highest total is 39 (2004). Nov. 23 - 8:20 pm et Not to worry. We should be able to find an equivalent arm for those $$$....or less.
November 24, 200421 yr Could this mean we re-sign Dave Weathers? 620779 My panties are in a bunch thinking about that one. :plain I think Tankersly is going to be on the MLB roster come opening day at this point.
November 24, 200421 yr Rudy would have been a very solid man in the pen if he was siigned specific role. 7th inning for one inning and NEVER with men on basde. The guy needs to start innings. Oh well, GL Rudy!
November 24, 200421 yr not a big loss, its not like we could be losing our team leader in Mike Redmond :plain

November 24, 200421 yr Coaching staff relied on him too much. He was overrated. Beinfest said he did not want to build a bullpen on the fly again. Let's wait and see.
November 24, 200421 yr looks like we're building the bullpen from scratch once again... 620823 Hopefully we get it right this time.
