Potential Trade??

Featured Replies

I still have doubts if Cabs can play the outfield....

/another painful flashback of that dropped ball in extra inngings against ATL

You really think Cabs could play 2nd base?

Have we already forgotten McKeon playing him at SS in the playoffs vs. the Cubs?

SS was his original position back in the day. And it was for only one inning or two. I think he is a bit bigger than he used to be. He would easily be the beefiest 2b around.

LOL at the brain wizard who said to put him at 2B.

Also, forget Carlos Lee... he is two years away from being 30.

May I ask what a good player is?? Carlos batted .305 with 31 homers and 99 rbi's last year. If you're going to use the park for an argument you should check out his splits, he batted .307 with 14 homers and 54 rbi's on the road.

those are mediocre numbers.

....LOL....

Carlos Lee is a good fit because he's an undervalued 5-tool player, not on the level of Beltran but he has good D, can steal 15, hit 30, bat .300...

Callling those mediocre numbers is just more moronic than even suggesting he was a mediocre player to begin with.

When you look like a fool, it's often a good idea to not continue saying foolish things...

If anyone can convince me how this trade helps the Marlins, I'll mail that person a buck.

I'd be pissed if we traded Castillo for any player. The guy took a discount to stay a Marlin. Out of loyalty, I wouldn't even trade him for Pujols. :D

Luis is the man

The only reason this doesn't help us is that we still have Encarnacion...with the money tied into those two for RF we'd probably be lacking big elsewhere...doesn't make much sense

"Back in the day" was 2 years ago! He's no beefier than A-Rod or Nomar are or Cal Ripken was. He clearly has the ability to do it.

Are you actually being serious about Cabrera being our 2nd baseman?

He is listed as the same weight as A-Rod, but A-Rod has speed, he stole 28 bases last year, and I am sure he bulked up a little when he moved to third.

Nomar is listed as 190, 20 pounds is a big difference.

Ripken is listed at 220 for when he played 3b, I don't know what he weighed when he played SS, but he is also about 3 inches taller than Cabs, according to the lists, so he should weigh a little more his frame can take it. Cabs can't.

And when I say "back in the day" I mean when he was 10-16 and deveolping, when they Marlins first went after him. Not for one inning in playoff baseball.

cabrera at 2nd would be gag-o-riffic

and he'd look even worse if he's replacing luis

NO thank you

Im sorry bout Benitez too.....first i heard about this anyways. Oh and Migs would be better as an IF. This is for who said "are you kidding me". he said it himself. he grew up as an IF and said it himself he made too many mistakes in the OF.and no, it is right that he got beefy, but he been lost that weight. he is much leaner now. im not saying the switch would be awsome, im just sayin it wouldnt be "gagorific".

Duh... :plain if he can play SS and he can play 3B, im pretty sure he doesnt have a problem playing 2B.

When he was growing up he was skin and bones. Haven't your realized how much bigger he has gotten in the last year? I doubt he is as fast as he once was.

I never stated once that the switch should be made and he is the same Miguel he once was. I just said that he lost the fat he gained in 04. I doubt he is as fast as he once was, Im just saying that if he can play a postition in IF, he can play another in IF.

SS and 2b are completely different positions. Namely one is on the left side of the infield and one is on the right. How you handle dps and ground balls is different, not to mention just how you handle specific batters.

I think I knoe that. But a person who has been playing baseball all their life can make the transition.

About as well as his ***smooth*** transition to right field last season.

Miguel at 2B? LMFAO...........That was the joke of the day for me. We need to keep Luis enough said. Cabs at 2B? That may make him the 2B with the most errors IMHO. Carlos Lee is an OK player. I rather keep Castillo in here than bring Carlos Lee in.

Marlins get:

Carlos Lee

Not a huge fan of the guy... he isnt worth losing Louie.
