December 17, 200421 yr The Dodgers, in trying to put together a three-way trade to land Tim Hudson were ready to package Choi to Toronto according to Peter Gammons: "There were three other teams in the Hudson sweepstakes: the Cardinals (right-handed pitcher Danny Haren and minor leaguers Anthony Reyes, a right-hander, and super catching prospect Daric Barton), Orioles (lefty Erik Bedard, righty John Maine and righty Hayden Penn) and the Dodgers; problem is, L.A. GM Paul DePodesta couldn't get a third team involved, as the Blue Jays wouldn't deal Ted Lilly and Alexis Rios for Edwin Jackson and Hee Seop Choi. The Orioles might have gotten their deal done, but wouldn't do it without a window to sign Hudson, which wasn't going to happen. December 17, 200421 yr LoDuca I can't think of a deal. The Dodgers have a nice farm system and would be looking for major league help. The only position we have any depth at right now is their greatest strength: the bullpen.

Burnitez has hit 68 home runs in the last two seasons, 37 last season with Colorado and 31 in 2003 with LA/Mets. (This reminds me, the Marlins will receive $2.5 million from Colorado in 2005) OR Enacarnacion and $2.5 million to LA for Choi and then use the remainder to sign Dellucci who can platton with Aguila in RF. That deal would bring the Marlins two left-handed bats for the about the price of Juan Encarnacion.
