B.K Kim to Marlins?

Featured Replies

If he was cheaper, maybe.

Sox are gonna eat his salary just to rid themselves of him.

He needs a pressure free new start. You guys could give that to him.

We don't need any more right handed relievers. Our top priority should be the final starter, or replacing Encarnacion in RF with an upgrade.

I'm forever doubtful of the Marlins and Red Sox ever doing anything considering how poorly Theo treated the Fish in the Millar thing and the revulsion I'm sure the FO has for Henry because of it and some of his comments about Loria in 2002, but that said, depending on what prospects would be involved (no one is going to trade a regular lineup guy for him) and how much of his $6.5 million salary the BoSox would eat, (seeing how long a compound sentence I can create here), with Lima signing with KC for a measley one year contract and the Fish losing a chance at another starter, Kim might be worth a shot.

Kim's problems last season were as much in his head as physical. He certainly didn't look comfortable with the Sox and his behavior was reprehensible. He has two choices at this point in his career, he either goes back to being a big fish in a small pond (pitchng in Korea or accepting the deal the Red Sox tried to work out for him to pitch in Japan) or he might consider making a comeback in a place like South Florida.

I don't see him starting again, which means yet another righty in the bullpen. If this were before we signed Jones or Riedling it may have made more sense. It's hard to believe we'd be looking at him now.

Has anyone else seen that Lima signed with KC for one year?

KC? Sheesh.

In Beinfest I trust but since we haven't signed a fifth, nevermind sixth/spot/long relief guy why the heck weren't we interested in Lima?

I don't get it. LimaTime in South Florida was a natural.

I don't know where Kim is at physically, but if his problems are mental than he can't possibly be any worse off than Benitez was in 2003. I wouldn't want to pay a lot for him, but if he's cheap, i like the risk.

he doesn't have to be another right handed reliever ... Kim could start and be a solid 5th starter

I would only take him if the price was right, very right

As for Passion's contention that there's "lots of chatter" regarding the Marlins and Kim, having visited the four most widely used RedSox messageboards and both daily newspapers, there is none, zero, nada so my assumption is this just made up on his part.

Just more of the "let's dump our bad contracts on the Fish" stuff from people who worship at the thone of King Henry and this court jester, Theo.

Benitez had a 2.96 era in 2003, his performance was overhyped by playing in NY

Your right, I love making up sox rumors on a marlins message boards.

According to the Globe's Gordon Edes, the Sox were close to striking a deal for disappointing righthander Byung Hyun Kim, mulling offers from at least two National League teams in which they would eat much of Kim's $6 million salary in 2005, while also picking through offers for both of their first basemen, Kevin Millar and Doug Mientkiewicz, one of whom almost certainly will be traded.

Insider, and the remy report have mentioned you guys.

Get off my nuts.

Sure can't find it on the Remy Report (one of the worst infielders in Boston history, excepting maybe Don Buddin) and the only thing you can come up with (from the Buzz, which was one of the places I searched before posting my message above) says nothing, absolutely nothing about the Marlins.

"Lots of chatter" lolololololol

While the Red Sox are believed to have trade proposals on the table, GM Theo Epstein indicated yesterday that there's a good chance Byung-Hyun Kim will head to spring training with the team.

If Kim stays, he'll join Keith Foulke, Mike Timlin, Alan Embree, John Halama and Matt Mantei in being guaranteed bullpen spots. The Red Sox will also probably want to carry Anastacio Martinez, who is out of options. Dec. 25 - 4:50 am et

Prolly already posted I don't know

Benitez wasnt good in NY because he is not a big game pitcher....the Florida fans are more easy going and thepress doesnt add the pressure that the media in NY does...Kim's problem isnt the same. I think it is psycological for the most part, and perhaps with different influences he could overcome it. The NL east would be a better fit then the AL east anyway...Boston would gladly eat his contract I expect...because they really really dont want him.

I hope were not one of the two teams. Who do you guys think the 2 teams are?

Update: The Red Sox are close to a trade involving Kim, the Boston Globe reports.

Recommendation: They are reportedly considering offers from two National League teams in which they would eat much of Kim's $6 million salary in 2005.

God it's the same story over and over and IT'S THREE DAYS OLD.

I'm not saying there's no chance Kim winds up in South Florida, but so far there hasn't been anything that specifically links the Fish with the guy.

Was also discussed on SOSH but the hot stove pitching thread was locked and moved.
