December 27, 200421 yr Quickie from Rotoword: Eric Milton received a three-year, $25.5 million contract from the Reds. $8.5 million per season for a pitcher with a career ERA of 4.76. This just might be the worst deal of the offseason, which is really saying something. Milton receives a $4 million signing bonus, $4 million in 2005, $8.5 million in 2006 and $9 million in 2007. He can opt out of the final year of the deal just in case he actually exceeds expectations. We put the chances of that happening at 1.9 percent. Dec. 27 - 3:06 pm et Wow! I'm glad it wasn't us.
December 27, 200421 yr Author Yes, this was a terrible move. Their FO must be run by a bunch of chimps. Unfortunately this drives the price for Odalis a little higher and might be a bit too much for us. However, I think we should stop chasing pitchers and make an an offer for Delgado. Maybe something like 2/25 would entice him...
December 27, 200421 yr Not to mention what his ERA will be in that park. Yuck!! I am still looking at the one year deal the tribe is talking to Millwood about. 1 year and $7 million bucks is pretty darn good when you look at some of these other deals.

I'm pretty sure that Millwood would rather play for a contender for that one year. Not to mention that his numbers will improve in this ballpark.
December 27, 200421 yr The Reds made this signing just to sign a starter. The Great American Ballpark is not that different from Citizens' Bank Park in the way the ball flies out of there.

Phillies pitchers, higher era on the road or at home?
December 27, 200421 yr Thank god we didnt get him. The Reds can overpay if they want we dont need that.

December 28, 200421 yr Ricky, He asked about ERA. I believe that the Phils pitchers did worse in ERA on the road than at home.
December 28, 200421 yr eh I take it as a good one for the reds at least someone somewhat decent will be pitching for them
December 28, 200421 yr Reds needed to over pay, but Milton in the Great American Smallpark is a scary thought...

December 28, 200421 yr I agree Swift... that's overpaying for Milton, but the Reds desperately needed someone. I'm glad the Fish didn't go 7 or 8 million for him though.
December 28, 200421 yr Surprisingly enough, the Great American Ballpark played as a big-time pitchers park. Read 'em and weep from baseball-reference.com: Ballpark: Great American Ball Park (ballparks.com) Attendance: 2,287,250 (12th out of 16) Park Factor: Batting - 92/Pitching - 93 (over 100 favors batters) It just shows to go ya' how bad Cincy's pitching was last year and how incredible their hitting was.
