No Milton For Marlins

Featured Replies

Quickie from Rotoword:

Eric Milton received a three-year, $25.5 million contract from the Reds.

$8.5 million per season for a pitcher with a career ERA of 4.76. This just might be the worst deal of the offseason, which is really saying something. Milton receives a $4 million signing bonus, $4 million in 2005, $8.5 million in 2006 and $9 million in 2007. He can opt out of the final year of the deal just in case he actually exceeds expectations. We put the chances of that happening at 1.9 percent. Dec. 27 - 3:06 pm et

Wow! I'm glad it wasn't us.

Yes, this was a terrible move. Their FO must be run by a bunch of chimps. Unfortunately this drives the price for Odalis a little higher and might be a bit too much for us. However, I think we should stop chasing pitchers and make an an offer for Delgado. Maybe something like 2/25 would entice him...

Not to mention what his ERA will be in that park. Yuck!!

I am still looking at the one year deal the tribe is talking to Millwood about. 1 year and $7 million bucks is pretty darn good when you look at some of these other deals.

That is the other option. I'm pretty sure that Millwood would rather play for a contender for that one year. Not to mention that his numbers will improve in this ballpark.

The Reds made this signing just to sign a starter. The Great American Ballpark is not that different from Citizens' Bank Park in the way the ball flies out of there.

Cape you in your all knowing wisdom that The Bank is a homerun park let me ask you a simple question to test it?

Phillies pitchers, higher era on the road or at home?

Road, Phillies pitchers got well adjusted to CBP, but the Phillies hitters hit the ball out of there alot.

Phillies pitchers gave up the most Hrs when throwing games to spite their manager.

Ricky,

He asked about ERA. I believe that the Phils pitchers did worse in ERA on the road than at home.

Reds needed to over pay, but Milton in the Great American Smallpark is a scary thought...

Can't be any worse than Coors Field East like this year.

Surprisingly enough, the Great American Ballpark played as a big-time pitchers park. Read 'em and weep from baseball-reference.com:

Ballpark: Great American Ball Park (ballparks.com)

Attendance: 2,287,250 (12th out of 16)

Park Factor: Batting - 92/Pitching - 93 (over 100 favors batters)

It just shows to go ya' how bad Cincy's pitching was last year and how incredible their hitting was.
