Willis will pitch...

Featured Replies

Even if he's named to the All-Star team, Dontrelle Willis will start Sunday for the Marlins.

Willis started on Tuesday, but since the Marlins have tomorrow off, he wouldn't have pitched again before the break if the Marlins stayed in their normal rotation. Considering that the alternative on Sunday was Josh Beckett, we think it would have been a better idea to give Willis the extra time off. The Marlins don't want him wearing down in September.

*I disagree with this...but at the same time we need to win now. Ruining his arm could be the worst thing for the game since the strike.

does Trader Jack not remember this kid is 21 years old and had a small arm injury towards the end of last season in the minors? maybe they shoudl let everyone go on the fair turn until the break then let D-trelle get his home start vs the Cubbies infront of a HUGE croud at the Pro (that last home start was the best croud in the last 3 years) hopefully they make the smart choice the last thing this team needs is another injured starter who was overused

guys, the reason beckett is not starting is cause he has a blister problem again, willis is next in the rotation, thats why he is pitching...read the herald....aprarently josh didnt tell Jack about another blister he just got....so we'll see what happenes with this one quote josh "Its serious, but its not that serious"...take from that what you will

Dontrelle, from what I have been reading, will start on Sunday, get all the next days off, then go on Friday again.

well if Josh has a blister, then DW should start...

but if Josh is healthy, this is stupid

DW will be pitching on normal days rest. The fish are in playoff hunt and need to adjust the pitching rotation and good way to do it this week.I think Josh is healthy and they said Josh will be use out of Pen if needed.

What are you all talking about, using DW too much and risking injury? He started on Tuesday, his next scheduled start would be Sunday if not for the off day. thats four days rest, just like every other starter.

Yea he will ge his rest and he is only pithing one inning in the All Star game. That wont hurt his arm. Dot worry he will get enough rest...

If Willis is not in the All Star game, then he theoretically could start again on Friday. Sunday..1)Monday..2)Tuesday..3)Wednesday..4)Thursday..Friday

I'm hoping he doesn't go to the all star game.....and before you jump on me there are three reasons:

1- We've already had the dirt kicked on our face, him getting in by injury isn't going to fix the harm

2- That way he can pitch friday, which will be sweeter and in front of the home crowd

3- I'm going with a huge group to Friday's game, I want to see him! (selfish I know)

I agree with you 100%, he would be better staying home during the break visiting with his mom and friends.

he is only gonna pitch 1 inning at most.....

he would probably still make his Friday start

Mark Redman will pitch the first game against the Cubs following the All-Star break (July 18), followed by either Beckett or Brad Penny. Willis will pitch July 20, which is his next home start.(According to the palm beach post)

oh great, so DW is starting...Fish sweep looking more and more likely
