They can have a gold glove outfield sure, but without a speck of defense in the infield, what good does it do Glavine and Pedro. And Pedro is going to die in Shea. This is coming from a Red Sox fan and he is going to experience arm problems really quickly. Glavine will just be unlucky as usual as a Met.

KRIV-TV, citing Major League Baseball sources, reported that the Astros have upped their offer to the free agent center fielder, offering $100 million over seven years. According to the station, the Astros' latest offer includes $14 million per year for seven years, with an option for 2012 worth $14 million or a $2 million buyout. The terms would make the contract the richest in franchise history, surpassing the five-year, $85 million extension first baseman Jeff Bagwell signed in 2001. Should he accept Houston's $14.28 million per year offer, Beltran would also be among the top 15 position players in terms of average annual salary. The 27-year-old would be making as much money as Albert Pujols of St. Louis, and more than Philadelphia's Jim Thome and Anaheim's Vladimir Guerrero. They can either put Aubrey Huff at first base and go after free agent Danny Bautista to play left until Rocco Baldelli returns, or they can put Huff in left and go after free agent Travis Lee to play first. They could also revive trade discussions with the Nationals about first baseman Nick Johnson. The Rays also might still be interested in signing a second baseman -- Miguel Cairo is a possibility -- but that move might depend on how much money they have left. January 7, 200521 yr Lord I just want Carlos outta the NL Central. If he leaves the NL good but if not I can get used to it more than if he was in the Central. He abused us pretty good in the NLCS.. WOW!! I still think he returns to the Astros, dont know why!
