January 28, 200521 yr This spring is going to be interesting how our bullpen shakes out. It will be very competitive. I think our pen has a chance to be very good this year. I know that we are deep. Here is how I see it. WILL MAKE THE TEAM: Guillermo Mota Antonio Alfonseca Tim Spooneybarger Todd Jones Matt Perisho John Reidling OUTSIDE CHANCE WITH GOOD SPRING: Nate Bump Ben Howard Justin Wayne Luke Hagerty THE FUTURE- PEN OR STARTERS: Logan Kensing Trevor Hutchinson Scott Olsen Yorman Bazardo What do you guys think? With Bump, Howard, Wayne, and Hagerty in AAA, our AAA team will be good.
January 28, 200521 yr Frank Castillo and Chad Bentz belong in the second group. Also do we know if Perisho has a full major league deal, or a split contract for the minors and majors? That might push Perisho down into the second group.
January 28, 200521 yr I am worried about the bull pen. I just dont trust Alfonseca, Jones and Reidling.
January 28, 200521 yr Doesn't Hagerty have to make the team anyways? 670800 He's a Rule V guy and as such if he doesn't make the 25 man roster he was to be offered to his previous team. At the same time several media people/sites have opined that because of his injury, the Fish may be able to stash him on the DL.

January 28, 200521 yr I am worried about the bull pen. I just dont trust Alfonseca, Jones and Reidling. 670796 I'm worried about the closer's role. I don't trust Mota to be as effective as we're hoping. With the signing of Delgado, I'd really hate for our achilles heel this year to be our pen.

January 28, 200521 yr WE HAVE 3 POTENTIAL CLOSERS....MOTA. PULPO, AND SPOONEY - THEY ALL THROW GAS. 670854 todd jones will be the surprise out of the pen
January 28, 200521 yr I agree about Jones i think he will be very helpful, i don't trust Alfonsca and I think spoony and Mota will have great years. I wanna see it go: Jones-7th Spoony-8th Mota-9th
January 28, 200521 yr The great thing about Spooney is that he was ready to do serious rehabilitation starting late last season. This will be his first year following TJ, but he's been throwing and rehabing for some time now. Hopefully he can get us an ERA of 3.00 or so. He's capable of much better, but we shouldn't have lofty expectations of him coming of TJ.
January 28, 200521 yr WE HAVE 3 POTENTIAL CLOSERS....MOTA. PULPO, AND SPOONEY - THEY ALL THROW GAS. 670854 I dont think that Alfonseca is a potential closer anymore. His first stint with the Marlins he was great, but when he went to Chicago he was really bad. Although last year in Atlanta he had a good year. Atlanta does a great job of taking players that have struggled and getting something good out of them but when they leave they regress again. I just dont trust Pulpo right now, he has to prove to me after the season starts that he has fixed his problems and can be consistant.
January 28, 200521 yr I do not trust Mota to close last year his ERA was in the 4s in his games as a Marlin and I remember Im at a game and while im in the bathroom against the Phillies I think he gives up a two run homer
January 28, 200521 yr Reidling was lights out last season until his father died. 671034 yea he shoyuld get back to that form this season. Death of a loved one is always hard, but hes had the whole offseason to work on his pithcing an dim sure he'll be great
