Trade idea (idea only)

Featured Replies

Seeing most us feel AJ is gone by the end of the season. Why not explore ways of moving him for equal value.

Burnett to D'backs

Vazquez to the Brewers

Sheets to the Marlins

The brewers get a young 2# starter in Vazquez who's signed for a few more years

The D'backs get Burnett who they've wanted for a while

and the Fish get a young 2# starter who you could offer that 3/22-24 mil deal

JMO be gentle... :lol

I'd love it, but problem is I'm sure the Brewers feel that they would be able to get much more quality and quantity for Shheets come trade deadling

hmm.. interesting but why would Milwaukee want to take Vazquezs contract

maybe they want to get something for Sheets(a free agent at season end) and a quality ML pitcher not prospects in return.

hey, if this gets it done, then of course i'd do it

no reason why the brewers would do this trade, they can get much more in return

I'm sure 'Zona would have to throw in a prospect or two

:notworthy I would love to see Ben Sheets in a Marlins uniform... very talented, and if you give him some run support... almost a guaranteed 20 game winner... and vasz and burnett are good... so the matter is just some prospects here and there...

How old is sheets and how long is is contact :headscratch and how much does he get paid?

He's a free agent at season end, he was in the same draft as Beckett.

The Brewers have and WILL shop him before the trade deadline. They want to get something for him.

The Reds offered Kearns, Brewers want pitching pitching pitching

He's not a free agent until after the 2006 season.

He would be a great pickup. We could send AJ and Stokes for Sheets.

Say we are in are in the hunt, what would we have to give up to get him. Do we have any good pitching prospects that they would want?

I'd love to have Sheets, but I think AJ can not only produce better but will be slightly easier to resign when time comes.

Plus, we would have less competition to resign Burnett than to trade for/resign Sheets.

Definitely Olsen and Bazardo. Many scouts believe Olsen is one of the top young lefty arms in the minors... and Bazardo has an outstanding fastball. Maybe Vargas or Tankersley can do well next season and become top prospects. The other thing is we could always send a pitcher to the Brewers and Stokes and someone else to a third team... and that team can send the Brewers a top pitching prospect. So we'd essentially give up Olsen/Bazardo (but not both), Stokes, and a third player for Sheets. Since he's not a free agent until after 2006, this trade would make sense. We'd give up a potential spot in the 2006 rotation, but we'd fill that with Sheets... all the while we have him for the playoff run. :thumbup

"They will try to kick the tires on A.J. Burnett and others, but there are no games scheduled in January. They have until April to get one more starter, then try to get into the summer bidding for a potential free agent like Burnett or Ben Sheets,"

Gammons is wrong. Again, he's talking out of his ass. Sheets has four years of Major League service. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?statsId=6618

Yeap your right on both counts :lol , but the Brewers were shopping him during the winter meetings. So he's not untouchable

It would be nice if were in first place or right up there and add him.

What I really want is for Jason Stokes to bust out this coming year and just have a monster season... so we can trade him along with another player for a top pitcher, if possible. Getting sheets would be outstanding.
