February 11, 200521 yr Author Brewers have new ownership as do the Diamondbacks. You may want to keep this in mind. 682320 So your saying they'll try and sign him?
February 11, 200521 yr What I really want is for Jason Stokes to bust out this coming year and just have a monster season... so we can trade him along with another player for a top pitcher, if possible. Getting sheets would be outstanding. 682331 If he has a moster season why trade :kicknutz
February 11, 200521 yr Author Well it seem I was mistaken by he's free agency, so let's revise this trade.... Let's bring the O's into this... Burnett to the O's Top level prospects to the Brewers Sheets to the Marlins ...this might work :thumbup

February 11, 200521 yr That would be a good deal. I think however it would depend on how we are doing. Say we are in first place and have a nice lead over the rest of the teams, I dont think we would get him because we would be doing so well without him. However if we are in a 2 or 3 way tie for the division and wild card I would think we would be more likely
February 11, 200521 yr He's not a free agent until after the 2006 season. He would be a great pickup.? We could send AJ and Stokes for Sheets. 682301 If the Fish are in 1st at the trade deadline why mess with that But if AJ has made it clear that hes looking for 4 years 40 mil ship him for Sheets no questions about it

February 11, 200521 yr He's not a free agent until after the 2006 season. He would be a great pickup. We could send AJ and Stokes for Sheets. 682301 Brewers have absolutely no use for stokes prince Fielder is an absolute monster
February 11, 200521 yr He's not a free agent until after the 2006 season. He would be a great pickup.? We could send AJ and Stokes for Sheets. 682301 Are you sure? "They will try to kick the tires on A.J. Burnett and others, but there are no games scheduled in January. They have until April to get one more starter, then try to get into the summer bidding for a potential free agent like Burnett or Ben Sheets," http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/gammons/story?id=1946349 682313 Gammons is wrong. Again, he's talking out of his ass. Sheets has four years of Major League service. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?statsId=6618 682317 Yeap your right on both counts :lol , but the Brewers were shopping him during the winter meetings. So he's not untouchable 682318 It's because they can't afford his arbitration number after another healthy and productive season in 2005...they'd rather deal him while their leverage is high instead of being put over a barrell this offseason.

We could send AJ and Stokes for Sheets. 682301 Brewers have absolutely no use for stokes prince Fielder is an absolute monster 682439 I agree. No reason to send AJ for sheets. I suggest we send a top pitching prospect (like Olsen or Bazardo, but preferably Olsen) to the Brewers, Stokes and another prospect to a third team, that third team sends another top pitching prospect to the Brewers, and we get Sheets. :thumbup

I'd rather burn up the lower levels of the system before the upper levels (Bazardo, Olsen) simply because of all the picks we're going to have in the first 2 rounds this year.
February 11, 200521 yr How are we going to pay Sheets? The guy could get a pretty penny in free agency. And why not just give such a contract to AJ if he has an awesome season? AJ will resign here if we pay him. Our best idea(other than resigning AJ) might be to trade Burnett for Vazquez and have them pay some of the contract while also getting prospects. Im positive Vazquez will rebound. The guy just forgot his mechanics and that can be repaired outside of the NY spotlight. I dont think Zona will do it however.
February 11, 200521 yr sheets > burnett > vasquez 682160 Healthy? Burnett > Anyone Else in Baseball
February 11, 200521 yr If we are talking about a one year committment, which is all Burnett offers at this point, there are a few pitchers I'd rather have than Burnett, even if he's healthy. And the first one I'd pick is Johan Santana.
February 11, 200521 yr sheets > burnett > vasquez 682160 Healthy? Burnett > Anyone Else in Baseball 682514 Burnett has never proven though he can stay healthy and that's a huge thing. Sheets has proven to be a great pitcher and i really wanna see him in a Marlin Uniform.
February 11, 200521 yr Are you guys forgetting Sheets underwent (herniated lower disk) back surgery in October?
