Marlins Picked to Finish 3rd

good.

i'd rather not be favored to win the division.

agreed. To be honest, I was hoping that other media org wouldn't pick us to finish 1st. That seemed to be the fuel for the fire that drove the fish during 2003.

IMHO, I feel that the NL east is wide open and any team can win the division.

They've thought that St. Louis would win the WS for the last 5 years.

They piced the cards to not even make the playoffs last year and third in the Central

That SI capsule on the bulletin board is going to look oftly funny when other magazines, newspapers and analysts have picked every team but the Nats to win the division, including our Marlins.

whatever they say doesnt change whats going to happen October. being the underdog feels good when you are world series champs. thats how it was 03 and it was sweet. that being said, i dont let it bother me none that the marlins arent given their props.

I'd rather be underestimated than overrated at this point.

Yep. See 2004 Phillies for further proof of that

Hey, this is my first post here so take it easy on the newb.

I seriously doubt sportwriters predicted there would be multiple hurricanes to disrupt the tail end of the 04' Marlin season leading to thier 3rd place NL East finish.

I don't think it's absurd to say that Marlins could have threatened for the Wild Card last year or at least have come in second place with a respectable lead against the Phils if it weren't for the hurricanes.

I think the media's accurate prediction of the 04' Marlin season was due more to luck than to insight.

The media has never been on the Marlins' side when we had our WS runs, now that we have a better team than the 97 and 03 teams, well, you do the math.

Many publications had the Marlins winning the division BEFORE the Delgado signing.

If you're looking to make the Marlins out to be the underdog, you have not read more than one or two preseason previews or have some martyr complex.

We acquired arguably the best free agent and have the most balanced and potent lineup in the league, what the hell is wrong with SI? Oh well, it's always more fun coming from behind :thumbup .

We aren't the St. Louis Cardinals.

I like to squash the little men between my thumb and pointer as I watch them.

I also like to think I have a bigger penis then their 2 inch tall bodies.

Not to mention I watch them on my computer screen since UF doesn't carry Marlins games.

Before that they kept expecting St. Louis to win the WS.

They just forgot to take into account the fact that their team hasn't had good pitching, until now.
