This is not looking good for the Fish...

What the hell is going on? they keep getting their asses handed to them, our bats are cold and our pitching is so-so (not that bad actually) I know it's only spring training but we are better than that, what's up?!?!

Don't look too much into it. It is the GrapeFruit League.

I know what you mean but it's just so frustrating to see them lose like that, they got so much potential for it to go to waste. :(

Come April, it all goes back to be 0-0. I'd rather these guys go 0-20 or whatever in Spring and come out Red Hot come the Regular season.

It's just spring training. Half the game is played by guys wearing a number above 70

Same is true of the opposing team.

They don't make excuses. They just beat the hell out of us.

Right, but isn't that what Spring Training is all about? it's to progress and improve your game for the regular season, if we keep loosing games and keep getting shot out what makes you think we are gonna be red hot in April? :confused

Although it saddens me, I have to agree with you.

we have a great team it will be fine....they will turn it on half way through spring...as more of the guys get cut the better the line-ups will get...same thing with the pitching...

Repeat after me:

IT'S SPRING FRIGGIN TRAINING

IT'S SPRING FRIGGIN TRAINING

IT'S SPRING FRIGGIN TRAINING

IT'S SPRING FRIGGIN TRAINING

This is the time of the year you tinker with things and just get back into the rhythm of the game. Plus, nobody takes the games seriously unless you're wearing a uniform with a number between 60 and 99!

For whatever reason Jack is only putting anywhere from 2-5 starters out there every game....2 and 3 in the games I attended.

He's giving all the minor leaguers plenty of PT right now, so things will improve once they start getting cut.

I agree with PB, it's still super early. If our bats look this cold in a couple of weeks when we're putting out for the most part our regular lineup there may be some reason for concern. Even then my concern would simply be that we are gonna start the season cold, we have too much proven talent for our expectations to just fall apart.

When Pierre, Cabrera, Delgado and Lowell start getting four at bats a piece in the same game, that's when we need to worry about scoring runs.

At this point, what we need to look at is the young guys (Hermida, Stokes, Olsen) and the pitching. For me, I'm more concerned about Beckett and Burnett not looking to sharp instead of the offense...

The 1972 Dolphins lost every pre season game. They had a pretty decent year.

IT IS ONLY SPRING TRAINING...would you rather slump in March or slump in July. Starters dont play the whole game. All the starters dont play together.

Its hilarious how some people get worked up over meaningless games. These games arent for the starting 8 hitters and 5 starting pitchers, its for the back ups. The minor leaguers are the ones getting play.

We are 1 and 6 right now. That says a lot of our over-number-70 players when they can overcome the other teams' over-number-70 players... we better start winning. I don't want to go 20 and 6 in ST, but a decent record would be nice

Jack isnt playing to win right now, he's playing to see who can play and who cant.

Judging by the fact we are averaging less than 2 runs a game, I guess not many.

I mean our AA/AAA guys are facing AA/AAA pitching, they should be able to at least score.

We were ranked with the 11th best farm? I am beginning to question that.

What their performance to date speaks to is the lack major-league ready guys we have in the organization below the major league level.

None of the wunderkids - Hermida, Stokes, Reed, Wilson, Willingham, Dillon (really in a different category) are doing anything ala OMGNunez last spring. And the second-tier players like Treanor, Delgado, Aguila, aren't either.

It might be better to start moving guys over to the minor league camp and keep 30-35+/- guys around in the ML camp so some cohesiveness starts to develop. But it's still early in the process and I'm sure Jack is just as frustrated as the players and fans that spring is not off to the start he anticipated.

I understand Pierre is now one of the walking wounded joining CD and LoDuca. I wonder if Encarnacion will be showcased in center today or if Aguila or Reed will get the nod?

Well the thing is out of the group of:

Hermida, Stokes, Reed, Wilson, Willingham, Dillon, Treanor, W. Delgado, Aguila

2 or 3 maybe 4 of these guys will be on the ML roster at some point during the year, and maybe all at once. It would just be nice to see them at least hit some AA/AAA pitching before facing ML pitching.

it looks like our farm system is not doing so good like many people have expected.

they have like 8 at bats each

You do realize our starters aren't playing, right? Most of them have about 10 ABs in total.. we're looking at our talent, who cares if we were to go 0-10348 .. atleast we're evaluating our talent for the season. Don't worry about spring training, worry about the regular season if this happens (which i doubt)

i agree that it is spring training. the other team still beats us though. i think the team isnt making a big deal about it. come april, the pressure will be back on, the guys wanna show wat they can do in front of thousands of fans. they work well under pressure, so im not sweating it.

Come April, it all goes back to be 0-0. I'd rather these guys go 0-20 or whatever in Spring and come out Red Hot come the Regular season.

We came out red hot in April last season and look what happened.

It's a marathon, not a 100m dash.
