Brian Moehler starts for the injured Ismael Valdez. Moehler dont want to go back to the pen. Prove yourself son!

Is that Valdez next to Moehler? He's retaining a lot of water in his head and torso. Looks like he might be out for awhile.

Dodgii's prediction: Nationals learn who the best in the NL East is.

Gonna being a interesting game espically since livan is pitching. Lets see what moehler got.

I'll be going to the game tonight, with the reassurance that Ramp started the Game Thread. :napoleon

Gooooo MARLINS!

Yahoo! Sports Game Preview

The Washington Nationals had plenty of offense in their season-opening series against Philadelphia. That all changed on Friday against the Florida Marlins.

The Nationals will try to do a better job at the plate when they resume their weekend series with the Marlins.

Washington managed just five hits in Friday's 9-0 loss to Florida. The Marlins' Dontrelle Willis pitched a complete game and did not allow an extra-base hit.

The Nationals had 40 hits and scored 16 runs in the three games against the Phillies. Brad Wilkerson went 9-for-14 with a homer and three RBIs, hitting for the cycle in Washington's 7-3 win on Wednesday. Wilkerson went 1-for-3 on Friday.

The Marlins, who had managed just three runs in 22 innings in their previous two games after beating Atlanta 9-0 in their season-opener, had no problems at the plate on Friday, getting two homers from Miguel Cabrera and one from Mike Lowell.

``In 2003, when they came up as young kids, they just supplied so much energy for the rest of the club,'' Florida manager Jack McKeon said of Willis and Cabrera. ``They love to play the game, and the rest of the guys feed off that.''

Cabrera, who led the Marlins with 33 homers last season, hit in front of Carlos Delgado. The Marlins' slugging first baseman went 0-for-3 Friday, and is hitting .375 (6-for-16) with two doubles so far for his new team.

``I just play my game, and that's it,'' said Cabrera, who went just 3-for-14 (.214) against the Braves. ``I don't want to say I'm going to hit 30 home runs or 40 home runs. I'm going to do my best and that's it.''

Nationals right-hander Livan Hernandez will be given the honor of trying to cool off the Marlins. He was pounded for seven earned runs and eight hits over 4 2-3 innings in Washington's 8-4 loss to Philadelphia on Monday.

``I'm going to be ready for next time,'' said Hernandez, who had a strong spring training. ``I'm not the kind of guy to put my head down.''

Moehler is going to be shaky and the fish will fall to below .500 again.

Livan was shaky in the first game but he will be fine when he comes back to the Pro.

Well.. as our 6th starter, I feel MUCH more comfortable with Moehler in there than I did last year with Bump, Kensing... I'm just glad we have someone who has actually started major league games before.
