Posted April 11, 200519 yr comment_471132 The Marlins have a day off right before the Met series, Ishy is scheduled to pitch the first game in the series. Do you think they will skip Ishy's spot and just go with Josh for the first game? We can have Josh, Al and Burnett going instead of Moehler (I fixed it guys) Josh and Al :notworthy What do you guys think? :shrugs
April 11, 200519 yr comment_471134 Valdez' numbers home and away last season, combined with his lack of work so far this season make your point a good one. Be interesting to see how Trader Jack handles it.

April 11, 200519 yr comment_471136 I've got tix for Friday's game anticipating the skip in the rotation. Personally, I'd be shocked to see our #5 make the first start on the road when an opportunity such as this (day off before the start) presents itself, not to mention, Beckett's pitching so well that you'd figure Jack would love to get him an extra start for divisional games...
April 11, 200519 yr comment_471137 I'm going on Saturday and Sunday. Should be fun and I agree on skipping the 5th starter.
April 11, 200519 yr comment_471139 I believe the matchup on Saturday is Josh vs Pedro if nobody is skipped since both teams have an off day this week. Niceee

April 11, 200519 yr comment_471141 I look for Valdez to pitch some (long) relief in the next few days... and then skip his start.
April 11, 200519 yr comment_471142 Because the Marlins have an off-day set for Thursday, April 14, Valdez was going to be held out of a start while the top four of Josh Beckett, Al Leiter, A.J. Burnett and Dontrelle Willis remained on a five-day schedule. Valdez likely will pitch in relief in the meantime, as he will be available sometime early next week. http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/...t=.jsp&c_id=fla

April 11, 200519 yr comment_471145 Sheesh, you guys know she meant Moehler. :brigginbounce 737602[/snapback] :mischief
April 11, 200519 yr comment_471146 This means Al will go against Pedro on Saturday. Still a very intriguing match-up - the guy the Mets brought in to replace Leiter against Leiter himself.

Hopefully he gets the same redemption out of the start.

April 11, 200519 yr comment_471151 I dont think (could be wrong) that mets fans are particularly bitter about leiter's departure. They didnt like benitez b/c they hated him when he played for them, but al did what he had to do with the mets, and it was the mets who didnt want him back. Regardless i hope he pitches well against them
