Valdez' numbers home and away last season, combined with his lack of work so far this season make your point a good one.

I've got tix for Friday's game anticipating the skip in the rotation.

 

Personally, I'd be shocked to see our #5 make the first start on the road when an opportunity such as this (day off before the start) presents itself, not to mention, Beckett's pitching so well that you'd figure Jack would love to get him an extra start for divisional games...

I'm going on Saturday and Sunday.

 

 

Should be fun and I agree on skipping the 5th starter.

I look for Valdez to pitch some (long) relief in the next few days... and then skip his start.

Because the Marlins have an off-day set for Thursday, April 14, Valdez was going to be held out of a start while the top four of Josh Beckett, Al Leiter, A.J. Burnett and Dontrelle Willis remained on a five-day schedule.

 

Valdez likely will pitch in relief in the meantime, as he will be available sometime early next week.

Leiter is going to pitch a perfect game against them and become the first player in history to pitch a perfect game against his former team :thumbup .

I dont think (could be wrong) that mets fans are particularly bitter about leiter's departure. They didnt like benitez b/c they hated him when he played for them, but al did what he had to do with the mets, and it was the mets who didnt want him back. Regardless i hope he pitches well against them
