He really is making me believe he may be the greatest pitcher of all time, certainly top-3. He made our very good offense look foolish, and the movement he had on his pitches (and his ability to pitch in difficult situations) was astounding. Good job, Roger...can't say anything other than that, we were simply out played. Too bad for AJ, hard luck.

He was getting a lot of our hitters to swing at those deadly splitters of his.

Delgado who has seen him the most in the past and who has had the most success against him took a lot of empty swings. You could tell that he had nothing to do. He couldn't control himself from going after the splitter.

And Clemens, as all successful pitchers, threw strikes. He got ahead of our hitters 0-2 so many times. When you have a hitter down 0-2 you have a huge advantage. And when you're down 0-2 against Clemens when he's throwing great, you could consider yourself out.

The key is to just be aggressive and go after that first pitch hard because you know that he's going to come after you and throw strikes...

He brought his A game and we had no response.

roger is the greatest modern era pitcher.

there i said it.

if he wants to, he will pass warren spahn for most wins in the modern era.

I agree that he's the greatest modern era pitcher, but to say that he'll pass Spahn is a little off, with his win tonight, he'd still need 34 wins to pass Spahn...not saying he couldn't, but I don't know if it's a lock...

God do I feel old today I watched Clemons way back in the day in the FSL for the WH Sox. I mean this was way back when I was in high school and now my 20th reunion is approaching in a few months, for this guy to still throw like he does(mid 90's) is just mind boggling. His game plan hasn't changed very much, he still gets ahead on the batter and makes the batter strike himself out. This is one of those nights were I truly wished he had thrown his last pitch during the 03 series.

He brought his A game and we had no response.

When a pitcher like him brings their A game, there is no response. That's what makes him a first ballot hall of famer.

AJ also had his A game, and there was no response. So I thought we'd win, but we didn't, and that's what makes it such a tough loss.

A lost great pitching performace for AJ, and a lost opportunity to beat up on a struggling team.

Very tough.

True, but not recently...

And Jeff Francis isn't in the same category as Heilman or Belisle...

True, but he is Canadian, and beating a Canadian should be easy.

One couldn't help but just stand in awe at Roger's performance last night. The movement on his splitter, plus his pin-point control were impressive, particularly for a 42 year old.
