May 13, 200521 yr Look at any single Canadian coin or other currency and you will know who the Queen is. You do need Canadian currency in most of Canada last time I checked.
May 13, 200521 yr now nobody will read this topic. if i didn't have such a commitment to organization and rule-following i'd be disappointed that the topic was moved. *cheers the guilty mod unenthusiastically* woe is me
May 13, 200521 yr And btw: You should have posted this in the "Site Issues" forum. It has nothing to do with the Florida Marlins. Just letting you know for future knowledge. 771854 When did you become a moderator?

May 13, 200521 yr correct spelling is one of the many tools of the devil 771933 Just like Dollar General deodorant. :mischief 771956 Don't forget red dye #40. Without it he'd never have his firey complexion, nor all those corporate bigwigs with him in hell who put it in our food and give us cancer.
May 14, 200521 yr More people on this site think that instead of winning you "loose", than lose. 772042 Exactly, and a spell checker would not catch that since it is a correctly spelled word. It is not that people misspell a word or two in a sentence, it is that half the post is butchered. And one of the biggest problems is the use of words that are not interchangeable (there/their, know/no, etc.) And those are the types of mistakes most spell checkers will not correct. I finally resigned myself to the fact that this area has one of the lowest rated education systems in the country, so nothing will change very quickly. p.s. If you would like to know what the most common misspelled words are, click here.
May 14, 200521 yr It's true that a good portion of the misspelled words wouldn't be caught by a spell checker, but the main point of this thread is just to tell people to chill. I notice people misspell things all the time or use words that are incorrect in the context with which they use them, but that doesn't mean that I have to call attention to it and embaress them. It's just jerky and inconsiderate, and does nothing but ruin the feel of the thread/site. It also probably wastes more space on the boards than any other topic (save perhaps for hair-brained schemes to acquire adam dunn).

May 14, 200521 yr Hey Admin, what can you do about attaching a spellchecker app to the website, so that these people won't get their panties in a twist over every damned typo?? The number of irrelevent posts you'd cut down on would be astronomical. Think about all the argumentative tirades we'd eliminate, which serve no purpose but clog up threads that we actually want to read about. Or people can just stop being f***in morons and let a spelling mistake pass without crucifying the person. Jerks. 771851 Also. Insert "on" where indicated to make the grammar of sentence # 2 correct. Thanks. 771867 Actually, it's fine the other way. Looking at the sentence, you'd see that "cut down" modifies "number". Saying that you "cut down" the "number of posts" is fine. You can also "cut down on" "the number of posts", and that would be fine too. :thumbup 771875 hrmn. True. Someone gramatically inclined should do a small writeup of common errors like the difference between its and it's...etc. No? Maybe tack it up somewheres?
