Burnett w/ Elbow Inflamation?

Featured Replies

Well I guess were going to lose on Friday.

We can't throw Kensing out there, he's going to get destroyed.

But I don't want to risk an even worse injury with AJ.

And atleast he'll only be missing one start.

i say depending on how our pitching goes on thursday night that if the bullpen is rested that we let bump go 3 maybe perisho can go 2, mecir 1, reidling 2, and jones for the save?!?! i say that would be ideal

We would have a better chance at winning that way rather than sending out Kensing, but it would kill our bullpen if we would need it on Friday or Saturday.

Whoever starts the game will only need to go 5 innings, though. Our bullpen can take care of it from there. But our bullpen can't be pitching the whole entire game...

Hopefully Kensing gets the start

I don't want him to start.

It's like an automatic loss, IMO.

F*** F*** F***ity F*** F***

Pull a Dontrelle of 03' in 05'...but who? Johnson? Olsen? I'm hoping for Bump if its only one start, but if not then bring up a Johnson. I'd pick him over Olsen right now.

Why not Logan?

Logan's ball is too flat and is very hittable

Hopefully Kensing gets the start

AJ won't be going on the DL...

MIAMI -- Marlins right-hander A.J. Burnett will miss at least his next start after being diagnosed with inflammation in his pitching elbow on Monday.

Burnett complained about elbow discomfort after his last start on Saturday, according to Marlins general manager Admin Beinfest. Burnett was promptly flown to Birmingham, Ala., to be examined by Dr. James Andrews.

"He's not being placed on the disabled list," Beinfest said. "He will be skipped in his next start, and we will see if the inflammation goes down."

Beinfest said he was relieved that the examination didn't show anything more serious. Burnett underwent Tommy John surgery in 2003.

Burnett is 3-4 this season with a 3.19 ERA. He has struck out 62 batters in 62 innings.

Very good news that he has already been diagnosed by Dr. Andrews and it doesn't look serious. I would be surprised to see him miss a couple of starts though just to be cautious.

I wouldn't be surprised to see AJ go on the 15 day DL before all is said and done. They can always make it retroactive to 5/21. Whether they choose to do so will depend on whether he misses more than 1 start, and whether the BP is getting a bit thin and needs some help.

Well I don't want AJ to go out there and have something really serious happen to him, so keep him out one start isn't going to kill us, especially in late May.

As for Kensing, I think we should give him the start and see what happens. Do I see happening what happend to him last year in Chicago? Yeah, but I think we also deserve to see how far this guy has come.

Ugh, so if Kensing actually starts, then we're going to lose Thursday and Friday?

Leiter on Wednesday .. (X) on Thursday .. and Moehler on Friday?

Ugh, bullpen is gonna hurt.

Moehler isn't a problem, but Leiter and Kenisng are, since they probably won't go deep into their games. Leiter and Kensing will each probably pitch just 5 or 6 innings. So the bullpen is going to get a lot of work most probably on Wednesday and Thursday. If Moehler has a bad outing on Friday then were really going to be in trouble. Were going to need to get some innings out of our starters these next few days. Hopefully Josh can go atleast 7 innings tomorrow.

Moe won't go more than 7. And after Leiter and Kensing possibly drain the bullpen, hopefully Moe can go the 7. If he, Leiter, Kensing all go 5, we might have a bit of an issue. Ugh, hope the good Beckett shows tomm and gives us 6+ of solid innings.
