Frank Castillo pitching tomorrow

Recommended Posts

DVH said the roster move will be made after the game.

We may need Kensing and all the bullpen arms we have tomorrow too. That's why I mentioned Aguila and Dillon.

Hmm... could AJ be going to the DL?

Castillo comes up, Kensing goes down. :D If they send Dillon down, I might have to get angry.

Don't look for Dillon to go anywhere with the start he's had in the bigs so far. We need that power bat off the bench.

After tonight look for Kensing to be sent back down to AA.

Logan Kensing could very easily be a great MLB pitcher , he has great stuff , strong arm , his location needs a little work ....he has one huge problem that I have noticed, he allows the hitter to see the ball much too soon . If you notice in his motion he will pull the ball out of the glove alot earlier than most of our other pitchers allowing the batter to see the ball alot sooner than normal. Like I said this kid has the right stuff , he just needs to hide the ball longer in his motion . If he gets that down your going to see a very dominate pitcher.

Castillo is what we didnt have last year. I dont know how he'll do, but i have more faith in a man thats started 300 major league games, albeit hes mediocre at best, than relying on a converted relief pitcher or an unproven minor leaguer. And before anyone mentions dtrain in 03, he came in b/c we really were out of options considering that burnett, beckett, and redman had all gotten hurt, and we had already called up phelps and levrault to spot start

We had a healthy supply of 6th starters in past years. In 2003, in addition to the regular five (Pavano-Penny-Redman-Beckett-Burnett), Michael Tejera was coming off a promising dozen-and-a-half starts and some young arms coming up through the system. In 2004, the club went out and got Darren Oliver for close to $1M to be the 5th starter until AJ Burnett got back. In addition, one of our top pitching prospects Justin Wayne had come off a rough ML stint and there were other arms available, such as Tommy Phelps who was effective filling in.

They didn't all work out for the best, but you can't say the club was unprepared. I thought Castillo's pickup was a great move. Few others did, because it came so soon and there were bigger names out there. But I don't have any more confidence in him than any of those in the past or Kensing or Bazardo or any one else. They're all good pitchers. Their pasts mean nothing. Their futures mean very little right now.
