Admin
Todd Jones has converted all six of his save chances since Guillermo Mota went on the disabled list May 1, but Mota said he expects to resume the closer's role if he feels healthy enough when he is activated. "I'm here to close games. As soon as I'm fine, I think that's my job,'' said Mota, who could be activated Friday. Mota also said he would abide by whatever McKeon decides, including the possibility of setting up Jones as Mota did in Los Angeles for Eric Gagne. "I'm not thinking, 'I want to be the closer or I want to be the setup man.' I'm thinking about getting ready, and they'll make that decision,'' Mota said. --- Palm Beach Post

Marlins2k3Champs
Well Mota, that's Todd Jones job now as you can see. Why don't you get back into the SU role. Thank You.
prinmemito
I say we ease him into it. I think eventually he should close... once he's got his 96 mph fastball back, he's good to go.
PBMarlin
I'm sure he will get his chance. He shouldn't be too disappointed if he isn't closing the day he returns.
Flag Man
Nothing wrong with having two effective closers, each of whom can pitch set-up for the other, each of whom can give the other a day's rest. Really adds ammo to Jack's war-chest.
FishFan24
Nobody told you to get hurt either. While you were rehabing, we had this Todd Jones guy come in for us and do an amazing job. So stop crying about it and get your job back the right way.
legacyofCangelosi
well mota didnt really lose his job by pitching poorly. Injuries happen, this looks like itll be like the looper/urbina closer battle two years ago.
Shamrock
What's he supposed to say? Yeah, I'm really excited about setting up for the rest of the year, whooo!
TSwift25
Mota's ability to pitch more effectively with runners on (at least, it seems more effective than Jones) makes me think that Mota is best lent to the set-up role, but I have this feeling Mota'll be the closer, but he's one bad outing away from handing the job back to Jones... Like any pitcher with closer mentality he just wants the ball, and you can't fault him for that.

RockyMountainMarlin
Just saying ... it seemed a lot of people just read the bold and didn't catch the other quote. The papers are good at giving their slant on things.
Guest Juanky
I'm not a fan of two closer systems. Stick with Jones til he screws up badly in one game, then it's Mota's turn. None of this mix and match committee stuff.

FreshFish
I don't think Jack subscribe to the Admin Bowa school of management "You shouldn't lose your job to injury. . . ." I think Jack will continue to use Jones
