ESPN Crew

ESPN needs help hiring talent. I couldn't believe they are still letting Greg Papa call baseball games! He is currently calling the Indians-Padres game out in San Diego on ESPN2 Alternate. The A's fired him for a reason. He is a football announcer...think a west-coast Marv Albert. He should not be calling baseball.

Greg Papa

OMG, I just read the Giants have added him to their radio team. :banghead

No wonder their fans are so pissed at the Giants. They are asleep everytime he calls a game and they miss the good things the Giants have done.

A's fans dealt with this man for 12 years....I feel their pain.

i hate that man.

The broadcast doesnt effect my enjoyment of the game, but I have to say McLemore was like a walking baseball cliche. I cant remember how many times he said the Marlins dont get big hits when it counts. You could tell Boog was frustrated because he was practically interviewing McLemore to get him to add some personal insight that a former player should do on his own. My favorite was when Boog asked what interleague play was like for the player and Mark said how great it was for the fans, etc, and then Boog asked the question again because Mark didnt answer it.

I watch all the marlins game on MLB.tv, so last night I got to listen to the mariners broadcasters, FSN Northwest, they said that ''if the marlins were to get into the playoffs, they would be very very hard team to beat, becuase of there pitching''

MM was pretty bad, but I loved hearing Boog again. He plays sweet music -

Hey, maybe we can get ESPN to hire Leiter - like NOW. If Al was a real man, he would retire and alleviate us of the salary he does not deserve.

I dread his next start..............

I liked McLemore he was talking a lot of good stuff imo. Boog should of stayed with us, as so should of Dave O'Brien but they move on....

Yeah, because real men are quitters right?

That's not what I meant. Real men do know when it's time to move on. He's made a small fortune in his career, and I'm sure he can see that he's not doing what we brought him here for (pitch 5 strong and provide leadership to the young'uns). He also has a bit of an attitude about him, which i do not care for.

Whatever, I do not see him pulling out of his slump, and it would be downright embarrassing (to him) to be demoted to the pen in a mop-up role. That's what's gonna happen if he doesn't man-up & retire.

Like Ricky Henderson and Jerry Rice, Willy Mays, Heck even Ruth stayed around a year too long

Second, Mark McLemore was EXCELLENT. He was articulate, informative and understood all the situations and gave great insight. McLemore has a chance to be a star in the booth, IMO.

Wow. I thought McLemore was the worst color guy I have ever seen. He was pathetic. He was so terrible that I felt embarrassed to watch. And he is not knowledgeable. In the first Marlins game he did, he started the broadcast by disussing how solid defensively Cabrera was in right. But I don't blame national announcers for that because you can't know the intracacies of all the players on a small market team. But it is uncomfortable and a struggle to listen to him.
