First, I am really upset that Boog didnt stay with the Marlins as the TV guy.

Second, Mark McLemore was EXCELLENT. He was articulate, informative and understood all the situations and gave great insight. McLemore has a chance to be a star in the booth, IMO.

no, a blackout lift was exercised by espn since FSN did not have the game and ESPN2 was the Marlins home broadcaster tonight.

Mark just repeated everything Boog said and said "definetly" about 5,000 times. He was awful.

I felt the same way, it seemed like Boog was doing both the play by play and color commentary.

McLemore had his moments, you could tell he was new at this. He'll get better with time but for now he was indecisive and repetitive. He probably is too shy to question something the play by play guy says, something that Joe Morgan or Al Leiter aren't afraid to do and that's why they are IMO the two best color men for baseball games.

Now before we get into the actual game, I just want to say a few words about the broadcast team tonight. As seen on ESPN 2, we had Boog Sciambi and former utility man extraordinare Mark McLemore. Now Boog is a pretty solid tv guy, and since he was the Marlins radio guy last year, he knows alot about this team. But how how how did Mark McLemore get a job? He does nothing the entire game but repeat, in his own words, what Boog says. An excerpt from tonight's game:

Boog: Keeping Ichiro off the basepaths is a must for the Marlins tonight, considering how hard scoring runs has been the past few weeks.

MM: Ya know, if the Marlins want a chance in this game, they are going to have to make sure Ichiro does not beat them, especially running the bases.

Brilliant job in scouting for talent by the ESPN guys. I could do that crap for $100,000 a year or whatever he is getting paid. Nice work Al Jaffe on the hiring of him. He blows.

:lol :thumbup

ESPN needs help hiring talent. I couldn't believe they are still letting Greg Papa call baseball games! He is currently calling the Indians-Padres game out in San Diego on ESPN2 Alternate. The A's fired him for a reason. He is a football announcer...think a west-coast Marv Albert. He should not be calling baseball.

Greg Papa

OMG, I just read the Giants have added him to their radio team. :banghead

No wonder their fans are so pissed at the Giants. They are asleep everytime he calls a game and they miss the good things the Giants have done.

A's fans dealt with this man for 12 years....I feel their pain.

Mclemore states the obvious too much. Other than that, he was okay. Boog ruled as usual.

Odd... the latter half of 2004, Boog did the same thing as MarkMac with DVH.

Enjoyed listening to Boog on ESPN tonight. Well, I enjoy listening to him weekdays on 790 the Ticket as well. As for McLemore, he was average at best, but did alright for a newbie nat'l broadcaster.

Good God... How can half the people enjoy watching baseball games when you over analyze every aspect of the TV broadcast. Ease up and just enjoy watching the games. When you're at the park, you don't have any play by play guys, so consider it a bonus when you're watching at home...

I was making fun of McLemore while watching the game but honestly, I would've been okay with 2 screaming ten-year-olds doing the commentary as long as we won the game, seeing how we've played lately.

Actually two 10 year-old commentators would actually be funny to watch. Well at least for a couple of innings or minutes or seconds or...nevermind. Just ignore me.
