Is Jack's job safe?

Featured Replies

With this horrible stretch it seems like nothing can really turn this around. I would be shocked if he were to get fired, but if this stretch lasts another week or two anything could happen.

What you guys think?

Yes, because of what he helped accomplish in 2003.

But the more I reflect back on that year through DVD and taped games, and the more I watch games from last year and this year.....the more I think he was just really lucky in 2003.

Yes.

Don't forget 2003 and let this small slide blind you.

Yes, a small slide. In a big slide we can't compete after and we have no chance of making the playoffs. But in this SMALL slide, if we snap out of it now, or in the next few games, were still in the hunt to win the division or get the WC and go to the playoffs.

I would say no its not safe, If one will remember Jeff Torborg was Loria's handpicked good old buddy manager and he was let go. Loria also relieved Alou, a well respected manager of his job too. Managers are hired to be fired.

If we keep this play up, NL East might not have all .500 teams by the end of the weekend

And for the record, I think (and hope) that Loria's allegiances are to the team and not to its parts. Fans are meant to root for the name on the front, not the name on the back - I not only expect as much but I demand it from the owner.

Yes.

A small slide is 5 of 6 or 7 of 8.

But we've lost 12 of 15!

If we go 92-70 again, 12 losses in TWO WEEKS is 17% of the 70 losses for the season.

My best friend is a Philly fan, and he made that argument all that year. He swore it would come back to haunt us later. Thank God I have the DVD to remember what it was like.

I'd guess the hot seat would be something like this:

1. Bill Robinson

2. Lowell/Pierre/other players not producing and deemed expendable

3. McKeon

Thanks for the stat. :plain

Anyways, stop crying about our "big" slump, we could still easily make the playoffs, ok?

Good, I'm glad you understand.

I very good stat at that.

I'm not crying about this slump. If you don't consider this a big slump you are an idiot.

What constitutes a big slump, Marlins?

Yes.

Team big slump= When you're not performing for a month or so and as a result, you have no shot at the playoffs.

Yes.

No, that's dump salary and rebuild for next year time.

Team big slump= When you're not performing for a month or so and as a result, you have no shot at the playoffs.

So you don't DO anything about a month long slump until afterwards??? You allow your team to lose for an entire month, then afterwards, after all is lost and the team is irreparably out of first place, it's safe to start critizing? We can only make the playoffs, if we're realistic about our situation and realize that unless we do something to stop the skid it will turn into a month long slump. And we can't be realistic by viewing everything through rose colored glasses, deluding ourselves into thinking everything is hunky dory. I mean come on dude, this is a bad stretch of games. No one is saying that they can't regain first place, we're just saying that they need to do something, that something has to change.

It's a long season and no matter how you look at it and no matter how poorly we've played over the past few weeks, we are still only ~3 games back for first place in the division and it's only June.

Jack's job is perfectly safe, Bill Robinson's job on the other hand, is not.

If anyone is going to be fired, it's going to be Bill Robinson.

Guys he took you to a ring less then 2 season ago. You guys need to lay off of him. Besides he doesnt hit the ball.

Yes, Jack's job is safe, but if we finish under 500 this year which we're flirting with, and we get off to a bad start next season, he'll be gone.
