Player(s) faulting McKeon for streak

Featured Replies

im getting tired of these willingham supporters what the hell did he do last year for us all he did was strike out and hit one homerun that was it.

Look what he's doing at AAA. He's leading or near the top of every major offensive category.

To judge him on the 25 ABs he had last year at the ML level is retarded.

I think it can be fixed by:

1) Firing Bill Robinson

2) Bringing Up Willingham

But the only thing that will really work will be winning.

Assuming for a moment your analysis is valid, I opined in the minor league forum that the question is where to play Willingham if you bring him up?

He's getting no time in the outfield in Albuquerque, either catching or DHing, so he isn't about to be sent out to right field if and when he arrives. If the Marlins intended to use him in any position other than catcher one would assume he'd be getting playing time there by now, but that hasn't been the case. That leads me to believe he a) isn't going to be joining the Fish anytime soon, or he's our prime piece of trade bait as the trading season begins.

Had Cabrera been playing left field before they brought him up?

he started playing LF for a couple of games before being sent down here

803533

Thanks, I knew he was relatively new to the position when called up, but I couldn't remember if he had any experience at all there.

I would say juan Pierre is in there some where. It sounds like jack M is the problem, from what I hear of the players. Im a pilot, and when I was going through flight training , sometimes the instructor would yell at you if you did something wrong, and it would bring your Confidence down to the floor and make you feel like s*** the rest of the day, it was for the best, but its how you conduct yourself to the players aswell, I know what it feels like, and I think Jack M is the problem, I just know it.

Bring back Jim Leyland. He could be our Billy Martin :mischief

Hehe I think 1998 scared him away from baseball for good.

This is on the FO hands, it is Loria's investment going down the toilet at this point.

Maybe the FO won't do a thing, and trade away players b4 the break if things continue to be ugly? I have no clue, but this could be the start of a new rebuilding period.

One thing I know is that something must be done quickly, so much negativity is not going to bring us a winning streak any time soon. We are slowly digging a hole, from leading the division by 1.5 a few weeks ago to 3.5 games back of 1st and on last place. We are making careless mistakes and the team is playing with no heart.

At this point as a fan, I'm not opposed to firing a coach or trading away some players in hope of a change in attitude.

This article gets me so mad at Mckeon, i never though he would of gotten like this. I have been threw it and imagine them. Playing under negetivity and pressure is very tough. Mckeon needs coach how he did last year and the year before, its like now he doesnt give a damn.

803522

Yes, in fact Cabrera was switched to left field for several weeks before he made it to the bigs.

Frank Robinson chews out his players and his team is in first. :confused

Can it be that the guys on the Marlins are a bunch of babies?

I bet you a billion dollars Leiter has something to do with it. He did it to Bobby V and then Art Howe (deservedly so) 2 years later. The man is contagious.

Suspects:

Matt Perisho- After Jack because he can't remember his name. Recently sent down to AAA.

Guillermo Mota- Recently chewd out in front of 30k at RFK. Lost his closing job.

Juan Encarnacion- Might still have gripe with McKeon after being benched during the 03 playoffs.

Mike Lowell- Has whined to media before.

Nate Bump- Recently sent down to AAA despite having a good year.

AJ Burnett- #1 prima dona on the team, has done this before.

Juan Pierre- Has been benched numerous times in crucial situations.

Frank Robinson chews out his players and his team is in first. :confused

Can it be that the guys on the Marlins are a bunch of babies?

803566

Maybe, but Frank is a 2-time MVP, and arguably one of the top 5 players ever. He can chew me out if he wants.

Chemistry is great when you're winning.

Chemistry sucks when you lose.

The Fish were on a good streak (7 in a row?) prior to the present debacle. Nobody complained then.

You can't fault the manager for not hitting the ball with RISP.

It's not Jack's fault when you ground into a DP.

It's not Jack's fault when you pop up (Gonzo) everytime we have a RISP.

It's not Jack's fault that Nate Bump is wild.

It's not Jack's fault Perisho hung a pitch that got slammed into Right.

It's not Jack's fault that Mota couldn't pitch (amazingly, he's pitched well since he got reamed).

It's not Jack's fault, Mikey is batting around .220.

Part of it is slump, part of it is luck. When you lead the league in BA, you're eventually going to improve in Runs scored.

Regardles: take responsibility when you screw up or don't get the job done. The only person you can blame is yourself. Since Jack's not swinging the bat, fielding, throwing or pitching, stop whining and just get the job done.

Stop whining and start playing.

Jack is a two-time manager of the year and built the 1984 Padres. :thumbup

It would seriously suck if these players aren't buying what he's selling anymore. Is he brash? Heck yeah! But this is still the man that lead you from 10 games below .500 and lead this team to a World Championship in '03.

I think everyone of these guys needs to seriously look themselves in the mirror and figure out whats wrong. A month ago, these guys won like 6 straight or so, so what has changed in that time? No one can tell me that in a months time that everyone has decided to give up on the team and Jack because its just not possible. I don't know what its going to take anymore, but I bet you the FO is running around with their heads cut off trying to figure it out.

It wasn't several weeks. More like a week, if that. Without any prior experience in left field.

You are BLIND if you think Leiter has nothing to do with this. I'm pretty confident the quote about the "pressure" on the coaching staff is him. I wouldn;t be surprised if he started the "anonymous source" ball rolling in the clubhouse. Funny how this element is gone from the Mets now, even though the "anonymous" source popped up its head every week the last few years.

I didn't know about that. If what you say is true. Then Leiter should be a suspect.

Just wait until Houston releases the Tomato Farmer and Al talks them into signing him as a "Lefty Specialist"

An insurrection is the last thing we need.

My thoughts:

- I didn't think Jack was going anywhere until 5 minutes ago. However, when 1/5 of your team isn't behind you publicly, that has to mean at least half if not more has turned against you. Whose fault it is is irrelevent, if a manager can't get through to his players he has no business running the club. Wayne Rosenthal was demoted for not being able to get through to Josh, AJ, and Dontrelle, and all three are doing well this year as a result of actually listening to the new pitching coach. If they aren't listening to the hitting coach, the bullpen coach, or the manager, they should be canned. If a coach can't coach, he really has no point being on the staff.

- Tony Pe?a would be a great replacement. Can this happen?

- Al Leiter and Mike Lowell are the ring leaders.

- It's good to see Delgado and Lo Duca take charge, but it seems like all the 03 remnants are just giving up. One of them has to take charge and say "Look, this is how we did it then, this is how we're going to do it again. We're gonna play like we did, we're gonna eat crap, we're gonna taunt the pitcher like we're 12, and it's going to be fun. Get it, got it, good." Lenny, Josh, Juanpy, Trelle.....one of you need to step up.

- I can see where alot of the things in this article are coming from. The players seem like they are trying not to fail instead of trying to succeed, and that's never a recipe for success. They are wound up tight as hell and giving up on the first sign of trouble.

Stop this before it grows.

I don't think Leiter is behind this. He was the first one to chew himself out. Jack didn't have to do it.

These 5 will soon be revealed.

An insurrection is the last thing we need.
