June 20, 200521 yr Jun 18 The Rockies have inquired about trading for Gonzalez, with Clint Barmes out, the Denver Post reports. Recommendation: While Gonzalez is cheap, relatively speaking, it's hard to see what they have to gain by trading for him, even with Barmes out. Gonzalez may have a smooth glove, but he can't hit and he's not especially young. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/6077/news I say go for it. Its been Real Gonzo.

June 20, 200521 yr keeeeeeeeep Alex! He has one of the better gloves and arms of all SS in baseball, and he is finally hitting for a decent average this year. Unless we fall out of contention, I say keep him, he and Castle make up the best DP combo in baseball, and we always love those clutch DP's that most infields let through for a hit.
June 20, 200521 yr Wouldn't make sense 818288 I dont know why the Rocks would be considering this anyway.... Barmes is a solid player
June 20, 200521 yr I had heard the Rockies were interested in the Devil Rays' Alex Gonzalez, not ours. Maybe Yahoo got it wrong??
June 20, 200521 yr Author right. This makes no sense for either side. But it makes for some exciting chatter for a few minutes...

June 20, 200521 yr Besides we can't trade him right now....he's been one of our better hitters and Bill Robinson's best accomplishment this year so far.

June 20, 200521 yr They want Alex S. Gonzalez, not our beloved Seabass. 818314 I hope so. I wouldn't want to deal Seabass off. :cool
June 20, 200521 yr ::::waits for somebody smart to realize that the article is reffering to Tampa's Alex Gonzalez:::: :thumbup Accord yahoo always mixes those two in their "news and notes" section -- a couple years ago I picked up the other Gonzalez thinking he was hot when in reality it was Sea Bass they were talking about. They have been doing it for years now.

June 20, 200521 yr Besides we can't trade him right now....he's been one of our better hitters and Bill Robinson's best accomplishment this year so far. 818318 His only accomplishment this year perhaps?
June 20, 200521 yr I've been watching baseball for 40 years and never seen a better defensive shortstop than Gonzalez, or a better SS-2B duo than Gonzalez and Castillo. Talk of trading him is ridiculous, unless it comes Aug. 30, and we're hopelessly out of it for this year. He will be a free agent next year. It's been a pleasure watching his defense for years. I hope he stays. I like him even if he bats his normal self. He's been overacheiving offensively so far this year. Who knows...as his career develops his offense will likely improve and his defense decline. Enjoy him while we have him.
