War of the Worlds

Featured Replies

The ending was a little weak with the whole movie making it intense and whatnot, .... all of a sudden they consume too many humans and it's atmosphere and drop dead... but it was cool no doubt to see the aliens, however I didn't really like those weird long eyeball machines snooping around

I saw it tonight and didn't think it was bad. I agree with Giambi that after the whole intensity of the movie, it just ended with "well all of a sudden they caught something and they are dying" and the big reunion in the end.

Btw, anyone want to tell me how the kid survived when all of the army guys he was with got owned?

If all of you are complaining, blame it on the book not Spielberg. Even though I haven't seen it, thats quite a show of respect to the story to not go with a flashy all out war battle against the invaders, but stay true to the fantastic writing of H.G. Wells

Film and literature are completely different art forms. I would actually expect the screenwriter to modify any narrative issues within the source material. The screenwriter has no obligation to be faithful to the literary work.

I'm not complaining about Spielberg's ending either though, I just wanted to make that point.

I know but it is to me a show of respect to the original novel. I don't like movies that are 100 percent true to the novel, and from what I have heard, the ending is one of the few parts that is.

That's what I was thinking. There was fire EVERYWHERE, how the hell did he manage to not die? I thought he was dead the second I saw all that fire.

very average movie .. maybe worth the matinee in a couple weeks just for the sound and effects

very abrupt ending

many things in the movie irratatings

MAYBE SPOILERS..............

like when all the batteries and electricity go out and on the street you have a photo camera and a handycam in working condition

the perfect driving lane (as mentioned)

when he gets to the mothers house and all the electricty is working, why not eat the food in the house instead of messing with the peanut butter?!?!

crazy how people can march from jersey to boston w/out any food and fighting aliens over an undisclosed # of days and still be in pretty good condition

funny that boston was relatively unscathed and NY was obliterated ... I guess even aliens know which city is actually worth destroying and which one will eventually just destroy itself

what was with the vines?!?!!?

at least tim robbins was good and the little girl was very good as well ... the son was horrid

I agree with the whole ending of the movie just leaving you in mid-air....it's like how did he get to Boston after being in the army field....

I understand that in the beginning he told his dad that he cared about himself more than the kids and that he'd leave them behind as long as he survived, but.....yeah.....i'm somewhat confused on how the mom and her husband made it to boston with all the storms......

the blood fed the alien spaceships...and the veins were like the veins of the people killed....

the little aliens did remind me of the aliens in Halo....random, i know....

oh yes, the Boston/NY rivalry...all started in the beginning with them playing catch....interesting, yet ironic....

overall, it was ok movie......

We just got back from watching it and it was good. Great effects and I loved the story but the ending was rather abrupt, after such an intense movie this deserved some kind of spectacular ending, whether it was relevant to the novel or not. However, I am very satisfied with the movie as a whole.

I also wanna see it..

of course, my parents will probably wait till it comes out on DVD..

Sometimes you just have to go against authority. If you can, go see it. It really is a good movie :thumbup

Haha. I sat in the middle.

Anyways, I thought it was a really good movie. Yes, some parts left me confused. At the end, I was like, "Huh? That's it?"

The red stuff was blood. The vines were something that replicated their home planet and the blood was fertilizer. As for the kid and everything else...suspended disbelief.

Thought it was a very well made movie and pretty frikkin entertaining. I guess readers of teh book would like the ending. I thought it was abrupt too. At least explain it more.
