June 26, 200521 yr The only people i'll give olsen up for are Kotsay or Zito. 826695 I'd rather have Olsen than Zito. but maybe I'm just insane. 826723 You're not insane. The risk/reward of keeping a young, cheap for many years, wannabe (no insult intended) over a high-priced player in the autumn years of career (and I think Zito has been a great pitcher) is almost off the charts. :thumbup
June 26, 200521 yr I hate the idea of giving up willingham for Tom Gordon(He's from florida so he probably wants to come here)..I rather get kid Kotsay back for Willingham and Enc or something of that sort and then pick some other reliever other than Flash.. Oh B.T.W i heard the yankees might aquire a CF'er as early as today, and they want kotsay so if we're going to deal willy for gordon it might happen today..
June 26, 200521 yr olsen is very tradable folks. He was brought up to be showcased. You might as well wave goodbye to him and willingham. We are gonna trade whatever we need to (except herminda) to get into the playoffs and win this year. They put all of their eggs into the basket for this year. The Nats are not 14 games over 500 where we are 4 games over 500. We need to get a major move and pick it up. Look for Baez or someone to be sent here for picking it up relief and pehraps another bat too.
June 26, 200521 yr your right mets_bs, some desperate team thinking they can make the playoffs will overpay. Kinda like when the mets gave us Kazmir for zambrano :-) Devil rays asking for prime talent for both huff and baez, and I would expect them to package both for a big deal, something like baez and huff for jerome williams, aardsma and corey patterson. Other possibilities include trades involving Andy Marte or Matt Cain. Due to these really high asking prices, Willy/Olsen/Bazardo, one or two(if olsen is not included) would be needed to get him.
June 26, 200521 yr Author here's what it will take to get Baez... According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the Arizona Diamondbacks think they have the inside shot at Tampa Bay closer Danys Baez. The newspaper says Arizona can afford Baez's $3.5 million salary, but may have to part with top prospects such as outfielders Conor Jackson, Carlos Quentin and shortstop Sergio Santos.

June 26, 200521 yr Dont know much about Santos, but Id MUCH rather have Quentin than Bazardo and Willingham. Despite that, I think an Olsen for Baez swap would beat any other offer out there IMO.

The thing aboout that trade wasn't so much losing Kazmir (We have TONS of pitching talent), it was that we only got back Victor Zambrano, and he's been pitching very well lately.
June 26, 200521 yr Jayson Stark in one of his columns mentioned a package including Willingham to go to the A's. Gordon going to the Marlins, and Kotsay going to the Yankees. 826722 that would be interesting. I don't the trade will go down though (If Kotsay plays today it won't go down anytimw soon, but if he's not...)

The Marlins would be screwed in that deal. 827039 I never said it was good, I said it was interesting.
June 26, 200521 yr Anyone here besides me think Kotsay is a good add to this team even though his salary this season is $6.5 million
June 26, 200521 yr that would be kotsay going towards the Yanks not us. Instead send them Enc I think is better
June 26, 200521 yr that would be kotsay going towards the Yanks not us. Instead send them Enc I think is better 827192 Yeah i know right now accroding to reporters and w.e the yanks are going to make the run at him,but why don't we get him for enc and willy or something of that sort and then stick kotsay in RF,i think that'll be badass..It's better than having a pitcher that can't pitch in the playoffs
June 26, 200521 yr Anyone here besides me think Kotsay is a good add to this team even though his salary this season is $6.5 million 827058 Not me. That salary is suicidal for the Fish.
June 26, 200521 yr I wouldn't like to see Olsen traded. What impressed me the most was how he didn't looked scared on the mound and made his pitches.
June 27, 200521 yr Author The Marlins would not trade Olsen at all. That would be like trading Beckett back in 2001. 826633 I hope they wouldn't trade him for a reliever, but they did offer him to the Tigers for Urbina ( :banghead ), so I don't think he's necessarily untouchable like Beckett was. If anyone in the organization is untouchable, it's Hermida. 826694 come on Cape there's only one player on the farm you can say that about and thats Jeff Allison

That salary is suicidal for the Fish. 827202 not really, he's a free agent after this season and we'd only have to pay about half of that if we traded for him now. Although I don't necessarily think we need Kotsay.
