It looked like he stopped, then 2 seconds later the ball bounced 2 feet from him. He should have had that.

Well you don't want to see him doing it all the time... but certainly when he is struggling like this it seems like an obvious move. Over the last couple of years it seemed like every time JP went into a little slump he would get a bunt single or two, and bam he'd be back on track.

Until JP gets the field opened up I'd have to disagree, at least in his first at bat. I'd have him bunt every time he leads off a game. Continuing to do It pulls the third baseman in and then he has a better chance to slap over his head when the opposition expects it.

Actually '03 I have no idea what the numbers are, and they wouldn't help anyway because his average in general is so low, but I'd be willing to bet that this season he hasn't been attempting anywhere near the # of bunts he normally does. Go figure...
