Abreu over Cabrera in the HR Derby

Featured Replies

I dont know if this was posted already, but Abreu was selected to represent Venezuela at the HR Derby, over Miggy. Im kind of dissapointed at that. I really want to see Miguel represent his country and the Marlins, and showcase his talents to the rest of the world. I think that MLB doesnt take advantage of the young talent the league has, they need to showcase the Willis', Cabreras, etc.

Id rather Abreu hit in it. He is overmatched and will overswing, possibly injuring himself and guess what Cabrera would start the allstar game then.

Abreu is more deserving

Abreu: .315, 18 HR, 57 RBI

Cabrera: .334, 16 HR, 59 RBI

He made it in last year on the last man ballot, though.

I knew he made it but I also knew that it was in some weird way ... like the last man ballot or through injury

finally he gets the recognition and thats all I care about

Obviously we would all like to see Cabrera over Abreu, but how many Phillies fans would agree with us?

Well trust me you are in the minority in that one

I wouldn't mind seeing Abreu, personally

Better than Pudge representing Puerto Rico.....What the hell?

Having country representatives in the derby is just flat out absurd. In a better scenario, both could play.

I was thinking the exact thing. :confused

Abreu plays in the CIT.

Cabrera plays at Dolphins Stadium.

Yeah, but if they dress up the guy throwing to him in a Marlin uniform he'll set Homer Derby records

Yeah, it's a one time thing though, meant to promote the 2006 Hispanic Beisbol Invitational, where the US and Japan will also be allowed to play

:notworthy

It seems like Florida teams are always snubbed.

Abreu was snubbed for almost his entire career...

Not that anyone cares of course.
