Thats cool..

Just 1 thing though..

does the stadium have to be in Downtown?

Why can't they try and find land near DS to build the stadium?

This has been discussed tons of times in this forum. They want the stadium in downtown and the city of Miami was the only one to come up with some money for the stadium.

Exactly. Where they are putting it may not be the best place in the metro area to put it, but since no one else came up with any money the team doesn't have any options. :confused

yeah look at the topic titled "location bad idea" in this forum. it talks about the dowtown attraction. Have you seen the area around dolphins stadium? Carol City is an armpit. putting stadiums there w/ weak fanbases is asking for disaster.

Look, its great that your uncle has the plans for the stadium but I'm pretty sure that your uncle wont be working for free which is what he would have to be doing if he were to build the stadium at this time. Lets be honest here folks, the stadium, for right now, is not happening. This is not to say that in the near future it will happen.

no funding = no construction crew

no construction crew = no stadium.

dont flood the forum w/ pointless posts about how the stadium is going to happen just because your uncle has the plans. I'm sure there are multiple construction firms out there that have the plans for the stadium since they would all have had to bid on building the stadium and plans would have had to been drawn up just so they had something to show legislators.

I just wish they'd build it further north, I rememeber after the WS Don King said the fish could build on his Jai Lai fronton up in Mangonia Park... thats a little far north I guess... but hey.

Personally I wish the Marlins would talk with FAU. FAU is looking to build a new stadium on its campus in Boca. Just a thought.

Put the Stadium in the glades in Collier Co. near the borders of Hendry and Broward, open up the fanbase further west to Ft. Myers/Naples.

It seems to me in the grand scheme of things whether we think the legislature is being cheap or not that ultimately it is on Loria the make up the difference in funding the city has already put up a significant portion of it , but it the stadium is going to be a cash cow why doesnt Loria come up with the difference? I doubt seriously he cant afford it , if he cant he shouldnt be a mlb owner. In the end i think it will get done I dont see where the Marlins could move , Vegas isnt a legit pro sports town they cant even support a minor league team , neither is Portland. If Loria put a competitive team consistently we will draw well with or without a new stadium although I have to admit i new stadium would be nice :D . Btw just curious if anyone has thoughts as to other cities in Florida where baseball might do well. I have a friend who swears the Marlins would draw well in Orlando , I personally think Orlando isnt a great sports town ...Maybe Jacksonville???? any thoughts??

If Miami has problems drawing Orlando would be a disaster. Orlando is to close to Tampa Bay.
